Popular star joining unique faction, feud with top champion? - 4 directions for Joe Hendry following WWE NXT win

WWE fans have been saying his name and he keeps on appearing. Joe Hendry remains a regular in World Wrestling Entertainment, and more specifically, on the NXT brand.

His run in the promotion started thanks to a newly forged relationship with TNA Wrestling. Hendry followed in the footsteps of Jordynne Grace and Frankie Kazarian, first participating in a Battle Royal and then in a handful of other matches.

Hendry's most recent match came at NXT Great American Bash 2024. He took on Gallus' Joe Coffey in singles competition. Not only did he outsmart Mark Coffey and Wolfgang, causing the duo to be ejected from ringside, but he went on to pin the former NXT UK star.

This marks Hendry's second win on the brand and potentially the end of a short-lived rivalry with Gallus. This article will take a look at four potential directions the popular star's NXT career may go in following his major victory.

#4 He could continue his rivalry with Gallus on WWE NXT

Gallus is a WWE stable that first formed on the NXT UK brand. The members involved include real-life brothers Joe Coffey and Mark Coffey. They are joined by Wolfgang on NXT.

The trio has been feuding with Joe Hendry in recent weeks. This has extended to both WWE NXT and TNA Wrestling. However, Joe has already put down both Wolfgang and Joe Coffey in singles matches.

Still, the feud may continue. The group is unlikely to take the defeat lying down. If nothing else, Mark Coffey may want a chance to prove himself and be the one member of Gallus to actually defeat the popular TNA wrestler.

#3 He could challenge Oba Femi for the NXT North American Championship

Oba Femi is the future of WWE. That may be a bold statement, but he is already showing signs of having everything it takes to succeed. Femi is big and charismatic. He cuts intimidating promos and regularly puts on banger matches.

The reigning NXT North American Champion surprisingly didn't compete on either night of WWE NXT Great American Bash 2024. Despite that, Femi appeared on this week's show, where he revealed he will defend the gold next week.

It isn't clear who Oba will defend the North American Championship against. However, it could end up being Joe Hendry given his recent victories. The Scottish star battling the Nigerian performer could be quite interesting, as fans tend to like both men. Can Joe take down the destructive force? That remains to be seen.

#2 Joe Hendry could join Chase U

Chase University, often referred to as just Chase U, is a unique faction on WWE NXT. The gimmick of the group is pretty silly, as it features a "teacher" and head of a "school" in Andre Chase.

Despite being goofy and odd at the surface, Chase U is quite popular. Not only is the group, as a whole, charismatic and funny, but they can deliver in the ring. Duke Hudson, Andre Chase, and Thea Hail have all put on bangers lately that WWE fans have gone crazy over.

In what would be quite the twist, there is a chance that Joe Hendry will join the stable. Nobody expected Duke Hudson to join, but he did and it was a success. Nobody expected Ridge Holland of all people in the stable either. Since it has been successful, Hendry may decide to give it a go and join the popular faction.

#1 Hendry could take on Ethan Page for the NXT Championship

Ethan Page has had quite the journey in pro wrestling. He started his career off on the independent circuit and later competed for TNA Wrestling, All Elite Wrestling, and ROH Wrestling. He joined WWE a few months ago and has already won the NXT Championship, besides headlining two premium live events.

All Ego defended his coveted NXT Championship during Great American Bash 2024. On last night's episode, Page defeated Oro Mensah of Meta-Four in a highly entertaining match.

Now Ethan will need a new challenger for his title. While Pete Dunne and Trick Williams want the gold, it could be Joe Hendry who steps up and becomes the number one contender. Could the TNA Wrestling star be the first non-WWE talent to win the NXT Championship? Only time will tell.
