Popular WWE Superstars' buried, Major star abandoned - 4 mistakes that were made at SummerSlam

WWE SummerSlam is now in the rearview mirror, and whilst many critics are claiming that the show was a movie, several things could have been done differently.

There were several title changes at the event, as the show was a landscape-changing event. However, some obvious things stood out following the show.

The following list looks at just four of the biggest mistakes made at WWE SummerSlam.

#4. Why didn't the Judgment Day come out to help Damian Priest?

Damian Priest was betrayed by Finn Balor at SummerSlam, but where were JD McDonagh and Carlito? The two men were clearly at the event because they were seen when Priest was backstage looking for Dominik Mysterio, but they didn't intervene.

If The Judgment Day has now split, surely they have some input on this as well. It seemed odd to leave Priest out there alone unless Carlito and JD McDonagh have been in on this from the beginning and are set to join forces with Finn Balor.

#3. Too many title changes

SummerSlam will be memorable for all the title changes as the WWE Women's, United States, Intercontinental, and World Heavyweight titles all went to new homes last night. Many were inevitable, with Bron Breakker and Gunther, expected to pick up gold, but Bayley losing her title seemed a little rushed.

LA Knight taking the United States Championship was a surprise and since his foot was under the rope, it's unclear if the change will stand.

#2. Jelly Roll buried Theory and Waller

Austin Theory and Grayson Waller were Tag Team Champions a few months ago and now they weren't even booked on the card for SummerSlam. Instead, they were part of an interesting segment with Jelly Roll ahead of the main event last night where they were buried by a guy who isn't even a wrestler.

WWE has an obsession with putting their stars in segments like this where someone is always buried by a celebrity hitting them with a famous move and it's damaging to their career. It's a tradition that needs to stop.

#1. CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre didn't seem like the end

Both Drew McIntyre and CM Punk have made it clear that their issues are over following last night's match where McIntyre was victorious. It seems that Seth Rollins and Punk could be set to step into a feud following SummerSlam.

The issue here is that for six months the WWE Universe has watched this feud unfold and now it's expected to be over after one blow-off match. It needed to be more or there needed to at least be a stipulation that would allow both men to be as violent as needed.
