From the WWE Rumor Mill: Possible change of name for NXT Superstar
What’s the story?
The WWE may have possibly changed the name of one of NXT’s top current prospects.
Apparently, the NXT Superstar previously referred to by his full name in addition to his nickname, is now being promoted solely by the latter.
In case you didn’t know…
Trevor Mann has competed in the sport of professional wrestling since 2003.
Mann gradually rose to prominence under his ring name “Ricochet”, widely-respected for his work on the independent professional wrestling circuit.
The heart of the matter
In January of this year, the WWE revealed that it has indeed signed Ricochet, with the high-flyer reporting to the WWE Performance Center.
While the WWE’s official website initially displayed his profile as Trevor “Ricochet” Mann, the ‘site now notes it only as Ricochet.
That, in turn, has set the professional wrestling community abuzz as to whether the WWE plans on promoting the NXT Superstar simply as Ricochet in the days to come.
What’s next?
The vast majority of professional wrestling industry experts believe that the WWE higher-ups are incredibly high on Ricochet’s talent, and view him as a potential future star for the company.
Fans can expect Ricochet to be prominently featured on NXT episodes in the weeks to come.
Author’s take
Ricochet is perhaps one of the most skilled performers in the professional wrestling industry today.
Not only does this young man know how to perfectly execute awesome aerial manoeuvres, but also understands how to moderate his high-flying repertoire.
Something that often goes unappreciated about Ricochet is his excellent ring psychology, and the ability to adapt on the fly—In the sense, that he can put up a great match with almost any style of opponent.
The sky is the limit for Ricochet, and here’s hoping he ascends to great heights of success in the WWE.
