Possible opponents for Ryback in Wrestlemania
One of the biggest faces and without doubt the most happening superstar in WWE today is Ryback. Ever since Ryback replaced Cena to face Punk in Hell in a Cell PPV, he has been a huge part of WWE. He has even gotten extremely close to being the WWE Champion but due to unfortunate interference from the Shield he hasn’t been able to enjoy the world title around his waist yet. However, Ryback is now settling his score with the Shield and this Elimination Chamber we will see the burial of the group that delivers justice.
So what next for Ryback after Elimination Chamber? This powerhouse will have just the right momentum that he will need to move into Wrestlemania but who he will face for Wrestlemania is a question that has been making rounds across several wrestling fans today.
Here’s a perspective as to who I would like Ryback to face in Wrestlemania.
1. Chris Jericho
There is huge rumor online that Chris Jericho is going to give Ryback a huge push by losing to him in Wrestlemania. Jericho has been just the legend that WWE needs as he helps put over talent like no other.
The biggest problem however is that Chris Jericho has very less momentum right now. As far as I remember, he has only lost matches. To the fans who haven’t seen him in his prime, Jericho does not have the necessary victories to prove he was a great Champion once.
In my opinion, this feud has lesser meaning mainly because Ryback is a powerhouse and for him to prove to the fans that he is one he has to defeat someone big. Someone like a Mark Henry or Big Show does sound the right way to go.
With that said, let’s just hope the rumours are all false and we do not get to see this match happen.
2. Big Show
Before the Chris Jericho rumours surfaced, people were talking about Ryback laying the Shellshock on the Big Show to mark an extremely important moment for Ryback in his Wrestling career. The ShellShock does look an extremely difficult finisher, especially when you are going to perform in on the Big Show.
This feud has all that is needed to make a Wrestlemania caliber match. With Big Show’s experience and strength, he can prove to be an opponent who matches Ryback’s strength and dominance inside the ring.
The build up however remains the biggest problem as these two wrestlers are in two different shows and in completely different storylines, making it a rather unlikely occurrence. Yet, giving credit to the previously existing rumours, this is an opponent Ryback might face in Wrestlemania.
3. Mark Henry
Now imagine this, ‘The World’s Strongest Man’ being fed to Ryback. What more can you feed to Ryback? With his surprise return to RAW this week, WWE can make these two wrestlers cross paths just to give us a spectacle of a different kind.
Mark Henry’s return was extremely impressive, with him bashing Mysterio and Sin Cara to a pulp. There was a lot of anticipation for his return and many predicted his return to happen at the Royal Rumble. I don’t mind him returning now and looking at the way he dealt with things in RAW, I expect Mark to wrestle against a top wrestler like Ryback in Wrestlemania.
The problem with this match however is that both these wrestlers haven’t been in such a large event before. Wrestlemania is known for it’s high quality matches and these two wrestlers in a match could just lead the way for a botchamania. When you put that aspect of the match aside, this match does deserve to be in Wrestlemania.
4. Sheamus
Elimination Chamber is going to feature Sheamus, Ryback and Cena facing the Shield in a 6-man tag match (unfortunately not an Elimination Chamber match). This is where WWE can create an extremely good feud between Ryback and Sheamus if they wanted to. Though the possibility of this happening is extremely low, this is an option that can work extremely well if WWE did not have a better scenario or in other words, this can be a last minute feud that WWE can consider.
Sheamus for long has been a babyface and quite frankly not many have enjoyed it. He seems to have become a stale character just like John Cena and it is high time at least he turned heel. The reason why I prefer him as a heel is because he seemed more acceptable with that role.
The feud could go either way as both wrestlers are in the same position right now. The match will be a test of strength as both these wrestlers are known for their brute force and attacking style of wrestling.
Though all these options seem quite interesting, Chris Jericho looks the most obvious choice considering the rumours that most of us have read around. I personally would prefer a Sheamus vs Ryback match at Wrestlemania.
