Predicting every single World Heavyweight Championship match from now until WWE WrestleMania 41
WWE introduced the World Heavyweight Championship last year, and since then, it has changed hands three times, all of which took place this year. It has been featured in many interesting feuds.
Seth Rollins became the inaugural champion last May and entered 2024 with the belt, but lost it to Drew McIntyre on Night Two of WrestleMania XL. The Scottish Warrior dropped the title to Damian Priest in under five minutes after the latter cashed in his Money in the Bank contract. The Archer of Infamy held on to the gold till SummerSlam, where he lost to Gunther.
Several top names are eyeing the title on the red brand, so expect some big matches in the coming months. In this article, we will predict every World Heavyweight Championship match that can take place from now until WWE WrestleMania 41.
#5. Gunther vs. CM Punk at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames
Gunther is having a great run with the World Heavyweight Championship so far. His last defense took place on the fallout episode of RAW after Bad Blood, where he retained over Sami Zayn.
The Ring General is now focused on his feud with Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes as the two men will clash at Crown Jewel next month in Saudi Arabia. Both stars will battle over the Crown Jewel Championship. The American Nightmare will probably win the match, but a big feud for Gunther may be planned on RAW ahead of Survivor Series: WarGames.
It is possible that CM Punk will return from hiatus and step up to the World Heavyweight Champion. Punk previously made his intentions clear about going after the championship, and following his victory over Drew McIntyre at Bad Blood, The Second City Saint has all the momentum.
Moreover, Survivor Series: WarGames will mark one year since The Best in the World's massive return to WWE. So, it would be a fitting occasion to hold Gunther vs. Punk.
#4. Gunther vs. Damian Priest
Gunther will likely have a long reign with the World Heavyweight Championship because he is one of the most protected stars in WWE. He is also doing great with the title, so he will probably be champion until at least 2025.
Since the Royal Rumble will take place in February next year, another title defense from the 2024 King of the Ring can be expected before the event. It could take place at Saturday Night's Main Event in December or RAW's premiere on Netflix in January 2025.
WWE could reignite the feud between Gunther and Damian Priest before Royal Rumble, as The Archer of Infamy wants the title back after finishing his business with The Judgment Day. He may face Finn Balor once again before being inserted into the title picture.
#3. Gunther vs. Goldberg at Royal Rumble
WWE teased Goldberg's return at Bad Blood earlier this month. Gunther disrespected the legend by calling him a "one-trick pony." The former Universal Champion even tried to confront The Ring General at the premium live event, but he was stopped by security. So, it is possible that the two will have a match in the near future.
There has been speculation about The Ring General retiring Goldberg lately so that it could happen on the road to WrestleMania 41. The WCW legend could return before Royal Rumble and challenge Gunther to a title match at the premium live event.
Gunther could have Goldberg put his career on the line and get a huge win against the Hall of Famer to make history.
#2. Gunther vs. Seth Rollins at Elimination Chamber
The Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event has always featured big matches because it is the last stop before WrestleMania. It will be more exciting in 2025 because WWE is reportedly planning to hold it outside of the United States, with the United Kingdom being the frontrunner to host the event currently.
Triple H could book Gunther to defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Seth Rollins at Elimination Chamber next year. The Visionary could not capture the title in the Money in the Bank rematch because of CM Punk.
Rollins could dethrone Gunther as the champion at Elimination Chamber and go on to defend it in a dream match at WrestleMania 41.
#1. Seth Rollins vs. CM Punk at WrestleMania 41
If Seth Rollins captures the World Heavyweight Championship at Elimination Chamber, he could agree to defend the title against CM Punk at WrestleMania 41. The match was supposed to happen this year, but it did not take place due to The Best in the World's injury.
Rollins and Punk have crossed paths multiple times this year. Their last encounter on RAW made it clear that WWE will book a feud between them in the near future.
The former AEW star could finally main event The Show of Shows in such a huge match next year and win the World Heavyweight Championship there.
