Pro Wrestling News: Austin Aries to wrestle top star in a dream match
What's the story?
Earlier this year, Austin Aries sensationally quit WWE, and its Cruiserweight division, after being unhappy with the direction that the show was going to take.
This left many people to wonder what the top star, who many regard as one of the best workers today, would do next. However, I don't think many people would have expected this dream match. Aries is set to square off against Ricoche
In case you didn't know...
There are conflicting reports as to why and how Austin Aries left the WWE, many of which seem to centre around Aries wanting out of the Cruiserweight Division as he felt he has the talent to be a main event player within the WWE.

Either way, Aries was granted his release from the WWE in what appears to be an amicable split, leaving the door open for a return in the future. Following that, Aries had the usual 90 day no-compete clause to run out, leaving him free to wrestle again from October 5th.
The heart of the matter
Austin has sort of laid low following his WWE release earlier this year, but it appears that now he's starting to pick up some Indy dates. He tweeted two posters for shows from Tommy Dreamer's promotion House of Hardcore, which appear to be his first scheduled appearances since leaving the WWE?
But it appears that Aries has something big planned as another independent wrestling promotion shows him scheduled to face one of the wrestling world's top free agents in a dream match- Ricochet
Ricochet has been the subject of intense rumours that he would be the latest in a long line of top independent stars to join the WWE after he delivered what appeared to be a 'farewell speech' after the NJPW event- King of Pro-Wrestling.
What's next?
We'll have to wait and see what happens regarding the Richochet rumours, but if I had to make a bet, I'd plump for the fact that something big is definitely on the horizon for the superstar. Whether that's the WWE or not, I can't say.
As for Aries, it's a real shame he couldn't get a strong foothold in the WWE, but it's good to see him finally taking up Indy dates again after being under the radar for so long. And let's be honest...he's got himself a hell of a match here.
Author's take
Why do I have to live in the UK? All the good stuff happens in Australia, or America, or.... well, it happens somewhere else, that's my point.
