Will Randy Orton be considered a serious WWE champion?
Last month, WWE introduced the Unified Championship in order to freshen up things at the top of the card, and they did so by putting two of their best stars, John Cena and Randy Orton, in a title unification match at TLC.
Orton won the match and unified the titles, but unfortunately things haven’t turned out in WWE’s favor as the fans are growing apart with the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Randy Orton who they deem as “boring.”
Being the Unified Champion, Orton needs to prove to the fans that why he is at the top in the WWE, and introducing some changes to his character will definitely work in The Viper’s favor.
The first and the most important change for Orton’s character will be a return to his old ruthless ways, becoming that Orton again who dared to attack anyone and wasn’t afraid of them at all will be a huge advantage for the “Apex Predator.” Yeah, Orton is a heel right now, but not the same heel who punted Vince McMahon.
Now, it’s like that he has to think before acting, taking orders/permissions from “The Authority,” and then he also acts in the most boring ways, his entrance, his mic skills, his same old repeated wrestling moves, all of it has become entirely boring.
He has become the exact opposite of what a WWE World Heavyweight Champion should look like. He looks more like a coward who’s dependent on “The Authority.” WWE has definitely been at fault somewhere.

Currently, Orton holds the only top championship in the company and naturally everyone should be after him. This is where WWE needs to get more creative and book Orton in more and more tough matches every week, in order to tell the fans why Orton is the champion of this company.
Orton’s recent booking has been terrible, he has a match with Cena at Royal Rumble within 11 days but these two haven’t been heating up their rivalry enough.WWE needs to realize that they are missing the whole point of having a Unified Champion, because the unified champion carries the weight of the whole company, and so he needs to be special but Orton has failed to be that special and with him the whole ‘unified’ thing seems pointless.
Additionally, why isn’t the whole locker room after Orton’s title? Remember how in Attitude Era every wrestler would chase the reigning champion? WWE needs to address this problem. Either they should provide more competition to Orton’s championship or they should spice up his current character, he is a heel but not the heel he is capable of becoming.

Luckily, with some fresh blood in his character, Orton gave the fans a taste of his old heel character when he attacked Cena’s father on this week’s Raw, drawing some response from the crowd, but then WWE should make him repeat such antics more often.
His loss at the hands of Kofi Kingston can be used by the WWE to fuel his aggression and mark a return to his old relentless ways. We can hope for WWE to wake up fast, and wait until Royal Rumble to see if Orton returns to his old heel character.
