Ranking The Shield's top 5 WWE rivalries
Rejoice, WWE fans: The Shield are back together!
Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose were the most dominant faction WWE had seen in years during their 19-month run together between November 2012 and June 2014.
Now, after three years apart, the “Hounds of Justice” have officially reunited and will face The Miz, Sheamus, Cesaro and Braun Strowman in the main event of the upcoming TLC pay-per-view.
Before the days of Seth swinging steel and calls for Roman to turn heel, the three-man group wreaked havoc everywhere they went.
In this article, we take a look at five of the best rivalries the trio had during their time as WWE’s top stable.
#5 Ryback & Team Hell No
If you listen to CM Punk, he says he came up with the idea to put The Shield together, although he would have had Chris Hero — now NXT’s Kassius Ohno — in the group instead of Roman Reigns.
If you listen to Ryback, he says he came up with the idea to use the Triple Powerbomb manoeuvre as their finisher.
However, if you listened to the WWE Universe at TLC 2012, they couldn’t have cared less who came up with any ideas for the group.
That night, in the first-ever TLC match with no titles on the line, Reigns, Rollins and Ambrose were victorious on their main-roster debut against Ryback and Team Hell No (Daniel Bryan and Kane).
Fans got a look at the trio’s in-ring work as a faction for the first time and it’s safe to say we weren’t disappointed. It was clear from the very start that all three guys were going to become major stars.
