WWE News: Raw viewership up from last week

The build to Roadblock: End Of The Line started off on the right foot

Monday Night Raw drew 3.111 million viewers, up from last week’s 3.002 million viewers. The breakdown of the three hours went as follows:

Hour 1: 3.162 million
Hour 2: 3.130 million
Hour 3: 3.093 million

The final hour alone drew better viewership than the average of the whole show last week. The main event saw Sasha Banks and Charlotte headline Raw for the second time in a Raw Women’s Championship match. For the third time in four months on Raw, Sasha Banks won the Championship from Charlotte.

The fact that the Women’s Championship on Raw has been switching hands often has garnered some criticism from fans, primarily due to the dislike for 50/50 booking.

The match itself got much praise. It was the first time that women in WWE have had a “Falls count anywhere” match. They had a regular bout on Raw, but due to a double count-out, General Manager Mick Foley announced that they would face again in the night, with the stipulation of no count outs as well. The match got promoted to the main event.

Another notable bout from the episode of Raw was a non-title match between, Universal Champion Kevin Owens and the United States Champion, Roman Reigns. The stipulation of the match was that if Reigns won, he would get a Universal Championship match at Roadblock: End Of The Line.

As Chris Jericho had a falling out with Kevin Owens earlier that night and was later attacked backstage by Rollins, Y2J could not interfere, and Reigns defeated the Universal Champion, putting him in the main event of Roadblock: End Of The Line.

The episode of Raw was the real beginning to the buildup of Roadblock, as last week was primarily just a Survivor Series fallout show.
