From the WWE Rumor Mill: Reason behind WWE teasing Carmella's Money In The Bank cash-in
What’s the story?
As noted by Bryan Alvarez on an edition of the Wrestling Observer Live, the WWE may be attempting to swerve fans by teasing Carmella’s Money In The Bank cash-in.
Apparently, despite the WWE teasing Carmella cashing in on the winner of Asuka vs. Charlotte’s SmackDown Women’s title match at WrestleMania, the WWE’s true plans indicate a quite different path.
In case you didn’t know…
Carmella is the inaugural Women’s Money In The Bank ladder match winner and has held the briefcase since winning it last year.
The Princess Of Staten Island has teased cashing in her contract on reigning SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair in the past—something that has been highlighted by the WWE over the past several weeks, which in turn has led fans & experts to believe that she’s likely to cash in on the winner of Asuka vs. Charlotte at WrestleMania.
The heart of the matter
Veteran professional wrestling journalist Bryan Alvarez noted that, with Asuka likely to win the title at WrestleMania, a possible reason behind the WWE continually teasing that Carmella will cash in on her is to create a diversion while the WWE surprises fans with a different angle altogether.
Alvarez explained that Carmella could get drafted from SmackDown Live to Monday Night RAW, and then cash-in on Nia Jax—with Jax being favoured to dethrone Alexa Bliss as the RAW Women’s Champion.
Furthermore, it was emphasised that the probability of Carmella cashing in her contract and ending Asuka’s undefeated streak is incredibly low, and the entire cash-in tease is simply a ruse to disguise the fact that Carmella is indeed pursuing the RAW Women’s title.
What’s next?
RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss defends her title against Nia Jax at WrestleMania 34 on April 8th—with Jax being touted as the favourite to win the title.
Meanwhile, SmackDown Women’s Champion Flair defends her title against Asuka at WrestleMania—a matchup that the Empress Of Tomorrow is expected to win and maintain her undefeated streak.
Fans can expect Carmella to cash-in her Money In The Bank contract against Nia Jax in the days to come.
Author’s take
The WWE ought to be commended for their excellent handling of Carmella’s reign as Miss Money In The Bank thus far.
The suspense is indeed intense, and Carmella could benefit from a move to RAW.
