Return after 19 years - 3 stipulation matches Triple H must book at WWE SummerSlam 2024
On Saturday, August 3rd, WWE will present the SummerSlam Premium Live Event from the Cleveland Browns Stadium in Ohio. As one of the companies' biggest shows of the year Triple H and the rest of his creative team will be looking to put on the best show they possibly can.
Currently, multiple high-stakes championship matches and potential ones are booked for the show. Whilst these contests already have a lot riding on them we are going to take a look at three stipulations that WWE can be added to various bouts at SummerSlam.
#3. - The WWE Tag Titles are on the line in a familiar setting
One match that has yet to be confirmed but many expect to be announced in the coming days is the WWE Tag Team title showdown between the current champs, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa facing off against the members of the new Bloodline, Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa.
Having initially struggled to get over as singles stars on the main roster, Gargano and Ciampa reunited as a duo to win their first-ever titles since moving up. After recently capturing the titles off of Grayson Waller and Austin Theory, Gargano commented on the huge win on his YouTube Channel:
"Still pretty wild. I don’t know that it’s hit me yet,” Johnny Gargano said. “I don’t know that it’ll ever really hit me because I just don’t work that way." Gargano added: "I just want to say, for the record, this title, I’m biased, but probably the most beautiful title probably in professional wrestling."
The Bloodline is set to compete in a number one contender's tag team gauntlet match this Friday on SmackDown, and given their current momentum are heavily expected to win.
A way in which these two teams could throwdown could be for Triple H to put them in a tag team title TLC match.
SummerSlam would also be the perfect location for this contest as the first official TLC match took place at the very same event in 2000, which saw Edge and Christian retain their titles against the Dudleys and The Hardy Boyz.
#2. - Cody Rhodes and Solo Sikoa are ready for combat
While the main event of the Premium Live Event is yet to be announced many WWE fans are expecting the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and his challenger Solo Sikoa to close the show.
Since Cody won the title off of Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 in April, Sikoa has looked to distance himself from Roman. The young star established a new version of The Bloodline, as well as announced himself as the new Tribal Chief. At SummerSlam, Solo Sikoa will be looking to do what Roman couldn't do this year and beat Cody on the biggest stage.
A certain match that could house a contest this big is a stipulation that was introduced to WWE fans last year, that being a Tribal Combat match. The contest follows the typical rules of a no-disqualification match but also ties in with the traditional rules of the Anoa'i family, where the winner will have control over the entire Bloodline.
If Solo is to truly establish himself as the new Tribal Chief then a victory over Cody Rhodes in Tribal Combat is the perfect way to do it.
#1 - WWE's biggest heel is SummerSlam's biggest prize
One of the biggest matches and storylines heading into the show is Rhea Ripley versus the new Women's World Champion Liv Morgan. The matriarch of The Judgment Day is determined to win the title she never lost to the woman who also put her out of action with an injury.
Since winning the title off of Becky Lynch at King and Queen of the Ring earlier this year it seemed that Liv would be destined to defend the gold against Rhea later down the line to solidify her reign.
During a recent interview with Good Karma Wrestling, Liv Morgan stated why she has put her upcoming match with Ripely above any that she has competed in before:
"This is the biggest match of my career. I mean, we are talking about Rhea Ripley. I am not going to discredit her. When I was away [with an injury], I saw her at the very forefront of the division, the face of the company — not men or women — the face of the company in general."
Whilst Liv and Rhea's rivalry is enough to carry this match, the added factor of Dominik Mysterio makes the contest all the more intriguing.
During Ripley's injury, Morgan looked to win the affection of Dominik, somebody who Rhea has kept by her side in recent years.
With that in mind, the title may not be the only thing on the line at SummerSlam, with the hand of Dom also being up for grabs.
A fantastic callback that WWE could do at SummerSlam could be for Ripley and Morgan to compete in a 'custody of Dominik' match. This would harken back to the iconic showdown 19 years ago between Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio at SummerSlam, where the two Hall of Famers battled it out for the custody of the then 8-year-old Dominik.
