Why is Triple H the WWE World Heavyweight Champion?
There has been a lot of debate among the WWE universe over the past few months about the Royal Rumble PPV regarding whether Roman Reigns retains his WWE championship and who would be the surprise 30th entrant.
All the questions were answered at the sold-out Amway Centre in Florida, as Triple H was crowned the new WWE World HeavyWeight champion.
On one side, this move is best for business, but on the other, Triple H – the COO of the company – who was brutally destroyed by Roman Reigns at TLC, would have never thought that he is gonna be the 14-time WWE champion, 3 weeks ago.
What made Vince Mcmahon push his son-in-law as an astonishing 30th entrant?
The main reason for this booking is because of the injuries WWE superstars are facing right now. John Cena’s shoulder surgery came as a shocking news to the WWE universe because Cena was booked to fight Reigns at Wrestlemania 32.
Cena being injured at the wrong time, Randy Orton and Seth Rollins still recovering from shoulder and knee injuries respectively, forced the company to go back to their tried and tested veteran – Triple H.
Although it won’t sit well with many of the fans, Triple H’s Royal Rumble victory was executed extremely well, and the live crowd seemed to be legitimately surprised when he eliminated Reigns and went on to win the match.
The COO gets the heat as a character and knows how to manipulate the audience. Triple H also gets the heat as the executive who has just made himself the champ and what we assume is the headliner of the WrestleMania 32 main event.
On the road to Wrestlemania – 70 days from now, Vince Mcmahon will do all the business along with his daughter and son-in-law. This is the best bet for the company, but not for the fans, as they didn’t expect the oft-repeated move.
Roman Reigns has lost the title for the second time in 40 days. No doubt, the former shieldman is going to fight for the glory in the coming episodes of Raw and SmackDown, but he will not be handed a championship match until Wrestlemania, which he would have to fight for in his Triple threat match against Dean Ambrose and Brock Lesnar at Fastlane.
As there is only one PPV before Wrestlemania, Triple H will not be touched at Fastlane, which is set happen at Cleveland Ohio on February 21st.
Whether Reigns grabs the title at Wrestlemania is a huge question, but the storyline is very clear until Wrestlemania, that the authority is going to repeat the same and attack Reigns with the vicious power they have at the moment.
The new face of the WWE vs. the family that runs it. Who will be successful? Let’s wait and see.
