In a post-match interview, Rey Mysterio said that even though he lost the chance to become the WWE Universal Champion, it did not matter to the fans in attendance and he was grateful that they were behind him "one hundred percent".

The two-time United States Champion also added that even after the match was over, the fans still chanted his name as they know that The Ultimate Underdog is a hard-worker and is dedicated to the sport of professional wrestling.

After the lights went on and the cage came up, the fans were still cheering "Rey Mysterio". That's 'cause they know how hard I work and how dedicated I am to this sport. So, they know this was just another night and I move on to keep fighting.

What's next for Mysterio?

Mysterio proved why he deserves the moniker of The Ultimate Underdog as he rallied back from a defeat at the hands of Brock Lesnar on Survivor Series and won the United States Championship the next day on WWE RAW by defeating AJ Styles.

Mysterio didn't have an eventful title reign with the United States Championship when he first won it earlier this year as he was forced to vacate the title after a few weeks due to injury. Now, it remains to be seen if his second title reign can be a fruitful one.
