Ric Flair to make his return on Hulk Hogan's Birthday
When it comes to the WWE, you never really know what to expect. It’s full of surprises and that’s what makes its exciting for so many fans. Their second biggest event of the year, SummerSlam is coming up and they have managed to keep crowds excited with really good WWE RAW shows till that event. The remaining time further gives them chances to put up even more brilliant shows and surprises. And of course, what could be bigger than having “surprise guests” make an appearance at RAW.
WWE does not usually tease their audience with huge announcements and ‘surprise guests’ because well, TNA taught them just how well that works. However, this time, that is exactly what they plan to do next week as they celebrate Hulk Hogan’s birthday live on the show. An NWO reunion looks set to happen as Kevin Nash and Scott Hall will drop by to wish Hogan well on his birthday. However, there are two other names making the rounds as rumors as well.
One name that’s created quite a buzz is Sting, with some fans expecting a possible WWE live show debut at any point. He has been all over the news, following his inclusion and his own promotions for the WWE 2K15 video game. Sting is also set alongside Hogan to appear at a SummerSlam fan panel next weekend. Due to the hype he has created, many fans feel it is a ripe time for WWE to debut him soon. However, this doesn’t seem too likely as a superstar as big as Sting, would need to have a night made just for him. If he were to appear on RAW next week, it would only serve as a distraction from the other pressing things going on.
So it looks highly unlikely that Sting will make an appearance next week, but we do know he’ll be back for SummerSlam. So there is still some measure of satisfaction gained by WWE fans on that fact.
Another name set for the show and confirmed to be on it is Ric Flair. After Ric Flair’s drinking debacle at a WWE Legends Panel last year, this would be the first interaction between Flair and WWE. The behavior was disrespectful to the WWE but 2K Sports executives actually loved it as it garnered quite a lot of media attention to them. So WWE didn’t end up being as annoyed as they could have been.
Last year was a sad year for The Nature Boy as he lost his son Reid to a drug overdose and on top of it he was the one that found him. Obviously such a thing is not overlooked, but at the time he was trying to be the same old Nature Boy, party guy that the world of WWE knew him as and he seemed to feel he could not carry on like that without some help. This is the reason many within WWE do not hold any grudge against him over the event.
So due to such unfortunate events, Flair didn’t work much with the WWE after. He appeared sparingly this year, only for small periods of time along with appearing with his daughter Ashley or WWE’s Charlotte at an NXT event where she won the NXT Women’s Title.
Ric Flair passed WWE physicals and has been declared fit enough to wrestle or take bumps, all depending on what the Company asks of him. Due to that, WWE has been thinking of a likely role for Flair. There was an idea to team him up with The Miz, but now that Miz’s change in character; they may have second thoughts about Flair managing the Awesome One. There have been rumors as well, one of them pairing him with Flair look-a-like Dolph Ziggler. Like so, there have been other ideas, but most feel (and so does my gut) that Flair’s most likely role with the WWE will be in a manager role for the near future.
As for the upcoming week’s RAW, it is highly likely that Flair will make his appearance during the Hogan birthday segment. This is the current plan as of writing even though the WWE could have Flair do something else on the show as well. It is said that Flair is “officially coming back” for a bit after this week’s RAW. However, it will still remain a rumor until proven, so we still can’t totally know what to expect. The world of WWE is full of surprises.
