ROH News: Honor Club streaming service launched

ROH'
ROH's Honor Club gives fans access to live events, television episodes, pay per views, and more

What's the story?

Ring of Honor's streaming service called Honor Club has launched alongside a relaunch of their website. Ring of Honor now joins the WWE, New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and Impact Wrestling as the major promotions who have previously launched a streaming service.

In case you didn't know...

Of the major pro wrestling promotions, the WWE was the first to launch a network when the WWE Network went live on 24 February 2014.

At the end of 2014, New Japan Pro-Wrestling World launched followed by the first events with English commentary the following year.

Impact Wrestling's Global Wrestling Network was the latest to join the streaming services when it launched on 10 October 2017.

The heart of the matter

With a membership to the Honor Club, the ROH fans will be getting a good amount of content. ROH On Tour events are going to be streamed live on the service, along with access to the complete television archive from the Sinclair Network. The existing video on demand vault will be available on the service as well.

In addition to the television archive, the weekly television episodes will appear on the service as they are released as well. If an event cannot air live for some reason, ROH states that it will be available in Honor Club within seven days.

There are three pricing tiers, and the first two ($9.99 per month or $99.99 per year) grant you 50% off all ROH pay per views throughout the year, 15% off all purchases in the ROH Store, early access to tickets and other promotions.

There is also a VIP package for $119.99 per year that includes everything mentioned above, and all ROH pay per views with that price.

What's next?

Honor Club is available right now through computers and personal devices. An app is currently in beta for a few select fans on the Apple and Android Stores as well as Roku and will roll out worldwide in the future.

Author's take

As a fan of Ring of Honor, it is great to see this service rolling out. My only problem is that I wish there was a way to pay $9.99 per month and be locked into a year-long contract to include the pay per views.

The VIP package is a pretty good deal though because for the cost of four pay per views, you'll get them all for a year. In 2017, they had eight total pay per view events, so half of them would be free. I just don't know how many will want to drop that much in one shot for this new service.
