ROH News: Marty Scurll talks about Bullet Club & wanting to wrestle CM Punk

Scurll wants to face CM Punk

What’s the story?

As reported by Wrestling News, Ring of Honor’s Marty Scurll has spoken about what it was like to join Bullet Club in addition to his hope of one day wrestling former WWE superstar CM Punk. Scurll revealed this desire during an interview with Justin Barrasso of SI.com.

In case you didn’t know...

At ROH’s War of the Worlds, Scurll officially became a member of Bullet Club after months of build up on the Being The Elite YouTube series. The Villain was revealed to be the newest member of the faction by Kenny Omega, who also confirmed to Adam Cole that he was being fired from the group. Cole, who is a former 3-time ROH Champion, is now likely heading to NXT.

The heart of the matter

Scurll had the following to say about joining BC.

“The truth is Adam Cole couldn’t cut the mustard anymore, and we replaced him in the most spectacular fashion. You can see the events leading to this on the YouTube series ‘Being The Elite.’ It’s absolutely awesome.

We’re badasses and we have a vision for wrestling that we express every chance we get. We don’t play by ‘the rules of wrestling’. We rewrite them and revolutionize the business.”

Marty then went on to talk about his dream opponent – CM Punk.

“I’d like to bring CM Punk out of retirement and wrestle him, that would be pretty cool, wouldn’t it? That’s a ‘dream match’ of mine.”

What’s next?

Scurll will continue to thrive in Ring of Honor, especially now that he’s alongside an act as popular as The Young Bucks. With many years still ahead of him in the business there’s every chance that he’ll end up in WWE one day, but for the time being his sights are likely set on becoming ROH World Champion one day.

Author’s take

Marty has come a long way from TNA’s British Boot Camp, with his Villain persona getting him over better than anyone could’ve possibly imagined. He has the personality, the gimmick, the mic skills and the in ring work necessary to succeed in every way and if he continues his current trajectory then we could see him pop up in Orlando sometime soon.
