ROH/NJPW News: CM Punk told the Young Bucks about returning to wrestling
What's the story?
The Young Bucks might be one of the hottest talents in the world of wrestling and it would come as no surprise that they have been dominant on both Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
The brothers certainly ruffled some feathers in the wrestling business as they claimed that the one wrestler they would want to see in the ‘Bullet Club’ is former WWE star CM Punk, and that 'The best in the world' would call them first when he decides to return to wrestling.
In case you didn't know...
The ‘Bullet Club’ is a very popular stable, mostly known in Japan and has featured a number of foreign wrestlers such as Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson and even AJ Styles.
The Bucks are part of the stable as of now and the members of the stable often change depending on who joins which promotion.
The heart of the matter
Punk, as we all know, left the WWE in 2014 despite being one of the best in the business. The ‘Straight Edge Superstar’ retired from pro-wrestling and tried his hand at MMA but that did not go so well as he lost his first bout at UFC 203.
There have been a number of rumours of Punk returning but that does not seem likely to happen anytime soon.
Matt and Nick Jackson were speaking to Rolling Stone on a number of topics and in one of the questions stated that they would want Punk to join the Bullet Club.
“We would love to work with CM Punk. I think it’s just a matter of time for him to realize that he’s missed so much. I don’t think he realizes that the fans would just be so happy to see him back”.
Nick further went on to add that one of his main goals at the moment is to get Punk back into wrestling, either at ROH or NJPW.
Matt even stated that if Punk does want to come back to wrestling, the former WWE champion should call the Young Bucks and Punk apparently is ready to take up that offer, should he decide to return to the squared circle.
“He’s told me that, he says when or if or ever he does decide to possibly get back into it, I’ll be the first guy he calls.”
What's next?
While the speculation of Punk will not go away, it will be interesting to see if the Young Bucks can get ‘The Best in the World’ back in the ring.
The Bucks are stealing a lot of thunder thanks to their performances in Japan and that might just appeal to Punk.
Author's take
We haven’t really seen enough top quality wrestlers since Punk left the WWE and it would be a major boost for both ROH and NJPW if he does decide to join.
The fact that a lot of wrestlers are moving to either of the promotions and are making a decent living, while not being part of some rather ridiculous management from the promotions, is certainly something Punk can think about.
For now, it seems Punk is content staying away from the ring but once he decides he is ready for a fight, he knows who to call and that will lead to a lot of excitement from fans all across the world.
