What’s the story?

ROH superstar Flip Gordon recently sat down for an interview with Brian Fritz from Sporting News. During his interview, Gordon discussed a host of topics including his take on WWE NXT going head-to-head with Ring of Honor, this week in Houston Texas. However, there is no invasion on the cards.

In case you didn’t know…

At the age of 25, Flip Gordon is a precocious youngster who performs for Ring of Honor and Chaotic Wrestling while also serving in the US army.

Gordon made his wrestling debut two years ago in a match against Biff Busick for a promotion called New England Pro Wrestling. He is also currently wrestling on the Indy scene, most notably for Chaotic Wrestling, where he also won his first title back in 2016 when he was crowned the CW New England Champion.

Gordon also received an offer from Impact Wrestling but refused to sign the contract with the promotion as he wanted to perform in the Indies. He also made his debut for CZW last year and he defeated Chuck Taylor, Steve Scott and Dan Barry.

In 2017, Gordon signed a contract with ROH and is also currently working on the promotion. He also made his CMLL debut earlier this year in a match where he teamed up with Volador Jr. and Caristico as the trio defeated Satoshi Kojima, Mephisto, and Ultimo Guerrero.

The heart of the matter

During his interview with Brian Fritz; Flip Gordon said that he doesn’t think that it is a coincidence that both NXT and ROH held a show in Texas on the very same day; he believes that it was something that was NXT did on purpose.

Gordon stated that Ring of Honor had some of the most loyal fans in the world that helped the promotion to sell out the Survival of the Fittest event, which took place earlier this week.

“That’s a testament itself; two of the biggest companies running the same day and the same town.”- Flip Gordon said.

The ROH star also added that the promotion is currently doing a great work and thinks that the future holds a lot for Ring of Honor.

What’s next?

Gordon has also admitted in the past that he would like to make his debut for NJPW sometime in the future through ROH’s working relationship with NJPW. The former CW New England Champion has said that he would like to wrestle for NJPW’s junior heavyweight division when he eventually makes his debut for the company.

Author’s take

Flip Gordon is certainly one of the up and coming stars in the world of pro wrestling today and certainly has a long way to go. Gordon is more than capable of becoming a big star for ROH, and I hope to see him work for NJPW down the line.
