ROH/WWE News: Silas Young opens up about his brief time in WWE Developmental

Silas Young, "The Last Real Man" talked about his time with WWE
What's the story?
Silas Young of Ring of Honour was interviewed by Interactive Wrestling Radio. During the interview, he opened up about his brief stint with WWE developmental as well as where his gimmick of "The Last Real Man" originated from.
In case you didn't know....
Silas Young made several appearances on WWE television, where he lost to Viscera, Miz, and Luke Gallows. He was not hired for long, and mostly as a jobber.
He also had a very brief stint in the WWE developmental promotion OVW before he was released from his contract.
Silas Young has had a long and successful run in Ring of Honour with his gimmick of "The Last Real Man". He was involved in several incredible storylines, like his feud with Jay Lethal and his run as a tag team with Beer City Bruiser.
The heart of the matter
During his interview, Silas Young shed some light onto his brief stint with WWE developmental territory Ohio Valley Wrestling.
He said that he was signed to OVW and that he was actually given a contract. He had a few matches in OVW as well before it all came to a sudden and hasty end. He said that his contract was "reneged on" before the hiring process was even completed. As WWE took away their developmental contract from OVW, that territory had to shut down. As a result, he found himself without a contract after thinking that he was going to be able to work in WWE.
"I never actually got to join the developmental program because my contract was basically reneged on before I was able to finish the whole hiring process. At the time, OVW had the developmental contract and at the time of signing the paperwork, OVW basically had their developmental contract taken away from them by WWE. I was told, “Sorry, we won’t be following through on your contract.” It was like I had the offer of the opportunity and then had the worst time ever because of them taking it away because of the closing of OVW."
He also talked about what he missed out on as the WWE's performance center developed so much in recent years.
Another thing that was revealed by the interview was that Jey Lethal had said that with his gimmick if Silas Young had been present 10 years prior he would have done much better. He talked about the origin of his gimmick as well, talking about how his father was the real "Last Real Man", and how his no-nonsense attitude in raising Silas made him the man he became.
"The Last Real Man" is basically my father. I grew up with 5 older brothers. They're all a bunch of goofballs. By the time I came around, my Dad had already raised 5 boys. He was a no-nonsense kind of guy! So, basically, the "Last Real Man" is my father!"
What's next?
Young won his match against Jay Lethal at Death Before Dishonour in a fantastic Last Man Standing Match and will look to move on from the feud.
Author's take
Silas Young had some really bad luck when his contract was reneged on by OVW, due to them having to shut down. He is an amazing star and he would fit right into the NXT roster and would add the variety that they need.
He may make a comeback to WWE soon, otherwise, it will be WWE who missed out on a wonderful opportunity.
