Roman Reigns or Dean Ambrose? Seth Rollins' 6 tag team partners ranked from worst to best
Seth Rollins is one of the top superstars in WWE. He has been part of the main roster ever since his debut at the Survivor Series PLE on November 18, 2012.
The Visionary is a five-time WWE World Champion. He has also held the Intercontinental Title twice and the United States Championship on two separate occasions.
Despite his incredible success as a singles competitor, The Visionary has also done quite well in the tag team division. He is a six-time tag team champion on the main roster with five different partners.
This article will rank six of his most famous and memorable alliances, ranking them from the worst to the best. What Rollins team stands out among the rest?
Below is a ranking of Seth Rollins' six tag team partners ranked from worst to best:
#6. Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins only teamed up briefly in 2022
While five of the six entries on this list saw Seth Rollins become a champion, the first entry is a rare pairing that didn't lead to tag team gold. After spending many years feuding, Rollins teamed up with Kevin Owens.
The two primarily worked together on Monday Night RAW in 2022. The pair successfully defeated The Usos, Alpha Academy, and RK-Bro, ultimately earning a title opportunity.
Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens battled the Alpha Academy (Otis and Chad Gable) and RK-Bro in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match for the RAW Tag Team Title in March 2022. In the end, RK-Bro emerged victorious. In December 2022, the two stars reunited again on an edition of RAW and defeated The Usos.
#5. Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins quickly won and lost gold
A more interesting run saw Seth Rollins win the RAW Tag Team Championship, but it wasn't a partner he had much chemistry with. Instead, The Messiah teamed up with his then-rival Braun Strowman to win the gold.
Seth Rollins was the reigning Universal Champion in 2019. Despite their feud, Braun and Seth teamed up to take on The O.C.'s Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson on the August 19, 2019, edition of RAW. They defeated the pair to claim the gold. However, the unlikely tag team lost the title 27 days later at the Clash of Champions PLE to Nic Nemeth (FKA Dolph Ziggler) and Robert Roode.
Given that the two were only champions together for a few weeks and happened to be feuding at the time, there is no way Strowman can rank high on this list. Still, at least, he and Seth won the gold, unlike The Messiah and The Prizefighter's team.
#4. Jason Jordan's career ended too soon
The next entry was another unique story. Jason Jordan and Seth Rollins teamed up together on WWE Monday Night RAW. The stars defeated The Bar (Sheamus and Claudio Castagnoli) to win the RAW Tag Team Title back on Christmas in 2017.
The two lost the title just 34 days later, with the erstwhile Cesaro and Sheamus dethroning them at the 2018 Royal Rumble PLE. This was part of a bigger story, with Jason Jordan becoming a villainous figure.
Rollins and Jordan's time together lasted just over a month. While there was potentially more life in the story between the two, Jordan's career was sadly cut short due to a serious injury. As a result, their run together can't be high on the list.
#3. Seth Rollins and Buddy Matthews had more potential together than what fans saw
Seth Rollins' most recent reign as a tag team champion took place at the turn of the 2020s. The Visionary teamed up with former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Matthews (FKA Buddy Murphy), and the pair won gold on January 20, 2020.
After defeating the War Raiders, they had successful title defenses on WWE broadcasts against the duo of Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe and then the Street Profits. However, Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins had the last laugh, as they defeated Buddy and Seth Rollins after 42 days on March 2 on RAW.
While this was a decent reign in theory, the run receives some demerits simply due to how much potential there was. Buddy and Seth had excellent chemistry, and a stable involving them and The Authors of Pain could've been money. However, an unfortunate injury to a member of AOP and Vince McMahon's erratic booking style ruined the potential.
#2. Jon Moxley and The Visionary were better foes than friends
The erstwhile Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins are two-time WWE Tag Team Champions. The former Shield stablemates first won the gold in 2017.
The Visionary and The Deathrider defeated The Bar at SummerSlam 2017 to win the RAW Tag Team Championship. They held the title for 78 days before the erstwhile Cesaro and Sheamus regained the belts. Rollins and Moxley won the tag team title again in October 2018, but only held the gold for two weeks.
Despite their past, both reigns were relatively short and lackluster. Beyond that, Rollins and Jon always seemed to be better rivals than partners, especially outside of their initial run as partners in The Shield.
#1. Roman Reigns is Seth Rollins' greatest partner
Seth Rollins' greatest partner is arguably his greatest rival: Roman Reigns. While WWE fans eagerly await to see if they'll team up again at the Survivor Series: WarGames PLE, the two stars were once tag team champions.
Roman and Seth won the WWE Tag Team Title by defeating Team Hell No (Bryan Danielson and Kane) at the Extreme Rules event in May 2013. The Visionary and the OTC held the belts for 148 days before losing them to Cody Rhodes and Dustin Rhodes (FKA Goldust) in October of that year.
The pair had several fantastic bouts, including four broadcasted successful title defenses. In terms of match quality and fan interest, this was by far the best tag team run in Rollins' career. It also helped lay the stage for a decade's worth of drama and intrigue, which continues to this very day.
