Roman Reigns' quest for revenge, surprise heel turn, and more - 5 WWE stars who could help AJ Styles dethrone Cody Rhodes at Clash at the Castle
Former WWE Champion AJ Styles will arguably compete in the biggest match of his career at the upcoming Clash at the Castle Premium Live Event. The Phenomenal One will challenge Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes in an "I Quit" Match. This may sound like quite a statement given his impressive decades-long career, but this match is crucial to Styles' fortunes.
The Phenomenal One has, unfortunately, been discussing his impending retirement recently. Be it in media interviews or his teased retirement on television just a few weeks ago, AJ Styles' time in the ring is certainly limited at best, and he's well aware of that fact.
As a result, this upcoming match with Cody Rhodes could be his last opportunity to claim the Undisputed WWE Championship. Winning this match is essential, and Styles will likely do anything to win.
Numerous wrestling stars could help AJ defeat Cody in Scotland. Below are five WWE stars who could help The Phenomenal One dethrone The American Nightmare at Clash at the Castle:
#5. Karl Anderson & #4. Luke Gallows, The Good Brothers will have AJ's back
Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows are a long-time tag team that first took off as a duo in New Japan Pro Wrestling. They have captured gold across several promotions, including WWE.
The Good Brothers had some issues with AJ Styles after his heel turn last year. However, they are back on the same page. Gallows and Anderson have been seen with AJ Styles on SmackDown and even aided him in his initial Rhodes beatdown by keeping staff away.
If anybody is going to attempt to help AJ Styles dethrone The American Nightmare, it will be The Good Brothers. If they've already had his back leading up to the match, they'll surely find a way to interfere this Saturday.
#3. Shinsuke Nakamura could join The O.C.
Shinsuke Nakamura is a veteran of the pro wrestling industry who has also dabbled in mixed martial arts. He became a star in NOAH and New Japan Pro Wrestling before joining the Stamford-based promotion.
The King of Strong Style was recently drafted to SmackDown. Considering his history with Cody Rhodes, Nakamura could cost The American Nightmare this weekend. Another option is possible, too.
In Japan, Nakamura was part of CHAOS, a stable that often battled The Bullet Club. In a moment that would shock wrestling fans, Shinsuke could not only cost Cody the victory but also officially join The O.C.
#2. Michin could turn heel and help her O.C. family
Michin is currently delivering the goods on two brands. While she is officially a SmackDown Superstar, the 35-year-old has been a regular feature on NXT. She picked up a win over Jaida Parker on last night's episode of the developmental brand.
Like Gallows and Anderson, Michin was given poor treatment by AJ Styles after he turned heel. Still, she defends him, as seen on SmackDown recently when the Blasian Baddie flipped out after Nia Jax brought up The Phenomenal One's name.
Since Michin is still united with Gallows and Anderson on TV, she could reunite with AJ and turn heel. She could appear at Clash at the Castle and play a role in The Phenomenal One's victory.
#1. Roman Reigns could return to WWE television and look for revenge on Cody
The Tribal Chief has been absent since losing his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania XL.
While many expect Reigns to return as a babyface, that isn't necessarily set in stone. The Head of The Table could return at the Clash at the Castle Premium Live Event and cost The American Nightmare the Undisputed WWE Title.
From there, the two can battle, while AJ Styles pivots to a different story as champion.
