Roman Reigns to return with new Enforcer & legend, former champ's 'Shield'? 4 surprises that could happen at WWE SummerSlam 2024
WWE SummerSlam is just three days away. Given it's the company's biggest spectacle after WrestleMania, the excitement amongst fans is palpable, and rightfully so, as the company has announced a stacked card for The Biggest Party of The Summer.
Aside from that, the creative team could be planning some huge surprises for SummerSlam to generate buzz among fans and grab more eyeballs. The following piece will explore four such surprises that could unfold in Cleveland this Saturday night:
#4. Tiffany Stratton becomes the new WWE Women's Champion
Bayley will defend her WWE Women's Championship against Queen Nia Jax at SummerSlam. The Role Model is likely to usurp her rival. However, potential interference from Ms. Money in the Bank Tiffany Stratton after the match could ruin the night for her.
Given Bayley is likely to be depleted and battered following a potential war against Nia Jax, Tiffany could take advantage of that fact and cash in her MITB contract to end The Role Model's title reign.
#3. Randy Orton betrays Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam
A potential feud between Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes has been rumored for quite a while now. Sadly, nothing has come to fruition yet. That said, things may finally change on Saturday.
Cody Rhodes, who will defend his Undisputed WWE Title against Solo Sikoa at The Biggest Party of The Summer, is expected to defeat his rival at the event. However, following the match, The Bloodline could launch a brutal beatdown on The American Nightmare. This could lead to Randy Orton making his return to save Rhodes.
However, after making quick work of The Bloodline, The Viper could turn on Cody Rhodes, laying the latter out with a vicious RKO out of nowhere. This potential angle would then lay down the groundwork for a big match between the two former stablemates.
#2. Drew McIntyre's 'Shield'
WWE has announced Drew McIntyre vs. CM Punk for SummerSlam, with Seth Rollins being the Special Guest Referee. However, just like The Visionary was Cody Rhodes' 'Shield' during his feud with The Bloodline, Rollins could protect the former World Heavyweight Champion against The Best in The World this Saturday.
While he has his issues with Drew, Rollins' hatred for CM Punk is well documented. Hence, the former Shield member could blatantly favor and protect The Scottish Psychopath during the match.
Rollins has already declared that he is the law and everything he says during the match goes. Hence, The Architect could take advantage of his power to help Drew defeat The Second City Saint.
This potential angle could then lay down the foundations for a Punk vs. Seth feud.
#1. Roman Reigns returns with Lance Anoa'i and Paul Heyman
Roman Reigns is rumored to make his comeback at SummerSlam. However, he may not return alone. The original Tribal Chief could return with his Wiseman, Paul Heyman, and his new muscle, Lance Anoa'i.
Heyman was kicked out of The Bloodline a few weeks ago after he refused to acknowledge Solo Sikoa as his Tribal Chief, and he has all the reasons to return with his client Roman Reigns to avenge his humiliation.
Meanwhile, the son of legend Samu, Lance Anoa'i, has previously teased his involvement in The Bloodline saga. Given how things have been unfolding lately, he could join forces with Roman Reigns in the latter's war against Solo's Bloodline. Lance could be the Enforcer of the original Tribal Chief's new faction.
The trio could potentially make their presence felt at SummerSlam to confront the Solo Sikoa-led Bloodline.
