What's the story?

Roman Reigns has spoken out for the first time since stepping away from WWE in 2018.

The former Universal Champion gave an update on his "healing process" and the new movie from his first Instagram post.

In case you didn't know...

WWE reported that Reigns and his cousin, The Rock would star in the "Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw - a spinoff film from The Fast & The Furious movie franchise.

The Rock has been a part of The Fast & The Furious series since 2011, but his latest film will feature Reigns in his first major Hollywood film.

The heart of the matter

In his first Instagram post, Reigns shared some of the pictures his cousin, The Rock, used in his post to talk about his role in upcoming movie, his appreciation for the fans and how all of the support has helped him with his healing process.

Family Healing! I cannot thank my family, friends and my new FAST & FURIOUS FAMILY enough for all the love and support I have received while on this exciting HOBBS & SHAW project. The time I‘ve spent with my cousin on this wonderful island has truly been a healing grace.  I am grateful to the @wwe @therock @universalpictures and everyone on the set of @hobbsandshaw for allowing me to be a part of this franchise. All of your outreach and support has been a blessing and it’s only pushed me to get back in the ring as soon as possible. But until then...I’m excited for this movie to premiere this summer, our culture and mana in this film is strong! #HobbsAndShaw #BigDog #WelcomeRomanReigns #WWE #TheRock

"Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw" will focus on The Rock's character, Luke Hobbs, and Reigns will portray Hobbs' brother throughout the film.

The movie is scheduled for release in August 2019 and will see Reigns acting for the first time outside of WWE Studios.

Reigns stepped away from WWE in October 2018 after he announced that he was battling leukemia and would need to step away from the company.

The former Shield member has kept a low profile since relinquishing the Universal Championship last year and news of his health has not been made public.

What's next?

Reigns said that he would be working to return to the ring as soon as possible, but didn't give a specific date.

The last information on his condition came from Chris Jericho who said that Reigns seemed to be doing well and could be coming back, but admittedly didn't know much about recovery from leukemia.
