Rumours: Ronda Rousey vs Stephanie McMahon in possible Wrestlemania match?

Ronda Rousey and Stephanie McMahon at Wrestlemania 31

After Ronda Rousey’s segment at this year’s Wrestlemania alongside The Rock, Stephanie McMahon and Triple H, many speculated that the UFC Bantamweight women's champion could be potentially teaming up with The Rock for a mixed tag team match against The Game and Stephanie.

There was another rumoured angle of The Rock vs Triple H competing in a singles match with Rousey and Stephanie at their corners respectively. However, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported last night that WWE's tentative plans for UFC Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey involves her working a singles match with Stephanie McMahon possibly at Wrestlemania next year.

Even though these plans are being considered, getting Ronda to work a match in the WWE ring involves various factors. As noted earlier by her agent last week, the Rousey-WWE deal was a one-off performance with no other obligations to fulfil. She would also require clearance from UFC to participate in a match. It has been confirmed that she was indeed cleared for the angle at Wrestlemania.

UFC contracted fighters getting involved in other promotions is nothing new as we have previously witnessed several UFC fighters getting cleared to compete in the Metamoris grappling events promoted by the Gracies.

Last year, at a professional wrestling match in Japan, former UFC Heavyweight champion Josh Barnett was allowed to take part in a match. Rousey's partner Shayna Baszler also appeared for ROH last month.
