WWE: Roster cuts expected soon

3MB may find themselves off the roster in the near future (image credit: wwepredictor.wordpress.com)

While this is usually the time of year where WWE begins adding new talent to the roster, it’s also unfortunately the time of year when men and women are released in order to make room for the new stars. It’s rough, but it happens almost every year, and it’s usually for a good reason. Although no names are confirmed for release yet, you can probably predict some of the ones who will be let go.

Right off the bat, 3MB comes to mind. While WWE seems to like Heath Slater and looked to get behind this gimmick right away, it fizzled out in no time, and the group has since been fodder for pretty much every other competitor on the roster. While it will be sad to see Drew McIntyre go if this happens (he is criminally underutilized, in my opinion), the other two will not be missed. Slater has never gotten over with fans as much as WWE would have hoped, and Jinder Mahal is, quite frankly, still green as grass despite his experience, not to mention a total heat vacuum.

Up next would be David Otunga. Now, some of you might be saying, “Wait. David Otunga still works there?” That’s exactly my point. Otunga hasn’t been seen in months, and quite frankly, I don’t think anyone misses him. While he’s a decent talker and plays the role of smarmy lawyer boy well, he can’t work in the ring at all and has made no progression since his debut several years ago.

Speaking of guys who have barely been seen, Ezekiel Jackson could be on the chopping block as well. The former Intercontinental and ECW Champion has barely been a blip on the radar since The Corre split up several years ago and is extremely injury-prone, which explains his current absence. Jackson also has absolutely zero charisma and has not registered with fans at all as a heel or face. It’s pretty safe to say no one would miss him if he were gone.

Sadly, as much as I hate to admit it, I have a bad feeling about Zack Ryder as well. Ryder is extremely talented and highly charismatic, but despite the fact that fans love him and he moves a lot of merchandise, WWE seems hell-bent on trying to get rid of him. The fact that he moves merchandise may be the only thing that keeps him free of the unemployment line for another year, but there’s no guarantee of that.
