Could a Royal Rumble win for Ziggler lead to a main event match with John Cena at WrestleMania?

WWE Superstars John Cena and Dolph Ziggler

With the Royal Rumble being only a few days away, there have been many predictions on who will win the Royal Rumble match. The superstars that have been predicted to win the match are: Daniel Bryan, Dean Ambrose, Bray Wyatt, and Roman Reigns. One man has been left out of the Royal Rumble debate, and that man is Dolph Ziggler.

Dolph Ziggler has a lot of momentum on his side, and he is constantly proving that he belongs at the top, with the other big name stars in the company. All Dolph Ziggler needs is that little push that could potential launch him into superstardom.

The Storyline

If Dolph Ziggler is going to take that next step into superstardom he is going to need a megastar opponent. John Cena is arguably the greatest professional wrestler of all-time. Cena has been the man in WWE for nearly a decade now, and is the perfect person to help Dolph Ziggler reach that next level.

In order for a potential showdown between Cena and Ziggler to take place, two things have too happen: Cena has to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, and Ziggler has to win the Royal Rumble match.

The story for this potential match was setup at Survivor Series. Ziggler ended up being the sole survivor on John Cena’s team, in a match that put “The Authority” (Stephanie McMahon and Triple H), out of power. The outcome of that match would ended up being moot, because of John Cena’s decision on the final Raw of 2014.

That night on Raw, Cena brought back “The Authority,” because Seth Rollins threatened WWE Hall of Famer Edge. Cena’s decision resulted in Dolph Ziggler getting fired a week later. The story could lead to Dolph Ziggler turning heel, and even possibly result in him joining “The Authority.” Ziggler’s motivation for turning on John Cena would be bitterness. Ziggler would blame his being fired on Cena, and say Cena played Russian roulette with his career, simply for his own personal gain.

With the match already in place for WrestleMania 31, Ziggler, from the day after the Royal Rumble, leading up to WrestleMania 31 would make Cena’s life a nightmare.

Having Ziggler turn heel would hopefully propel him in the same way it propelled The Rock. When The Rock won the WWE Championship for the first time, he did it by aligning himself with Vince McMahon. If Dolph were to do the same thing, it could potentially kick-start his career, and put him on the path of becoming a big time player in WWE.

Final Thoughts

Wrestlers like Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins may not be ready to carry the WWE too that next level.

Ziggler has all tools ready right now, where a wrestler like Roman Reigns is still lacking one or two thing. All Dolph Ziggler needs is that little push, something that will add flame to the proverbial fire. A win at the Royal Rumble, and a match in the main event of WrestleMania 31 with John Cena would be the ultimate rocket launch too the career of Dolph Ziggler.

The Royal Rumble could be Dolph Ziggler’s shot, but first the WWE needs to give it to him.
