29-year-old WWE Superstar released - Report

WWE released several superstars such as Jinder Mahal, Veer Mahaan, Sanga, Xia Lee, and Xyon Quinn recently, and it seems another name has joined the unwanted list.

NXT star Von Wagner was released last week, per Fightful Select. Wagner signed with the Stamford-based promotion in 2019. Two years later, he made his television debut on the developmental brand. He had worked with some notable names in the former black-and-gold brand, including LA Knight, Pete Dunne, Tommaso Ciampa, and stables such as Legado Del Fantasma and Imperium.

Wagner's final storyline was with Bron Breakker, who injured the former (kayfabe) courtesy of an attack on the Steel Steps in September 2023.

Among the aforementioned names, perhaps the most surprising one was former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal. It appeared he was penciled in for a push. In January, The Modern Day Maharaja worked an in-ring segment with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and even received a World Heavyweight Championship match against Seth "Freakin" Rollins.

Mahal also led Veer and Sanga as the Indus Sher. Several vignettes were aired sporadically in 2023, hinting at the arrival of the Indian faction. However, their eventual appearance on RAW was largely a forgettable affair. The lack of substance they had to work with was something Sanga brought up following his release, lambasting the WWE.
