3-time WWE champion reportedly injured at RAW
WWE is approaching a new year, which always brings WrestleMania Season. RAW and SmackDown Superstars are preparing to secure spots on The Grandest Stage of Them All, while the stars of NXT look ahead to Stand & Deliver. Injuries are an unfortunate part of being a wrestler, as they can keep talents on the shelf for months, and word from RAW is that a certain heel suffered an injury on Monday.
World Wrestling Entertainment ran the historic TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, on Monday for a double RAW taping. This week's episode aired live, while next week's show, which will air on December 23, was also taped due to Christmas. WWE also taped matches for upcoming episodes of Main Event and Speed. SK Wrestling has full spoilers for next week's RAW, and below are spoilers for Main Event and Speed.
Wes Lee opened Monday's pre-RAW Main Event tapings, locking up with Dion Lennox. PWInsider reports that Lee was hurt in the match that saw him face his 26-year-old opponent for the first time, but he was still able to finish.
According to word going backstage, the three-time champion suffered some sort of injury to his foot or ankle. Lee was banged up but set to get checked out by WWE doctors as soon as possible so that they can decide on what's next for the 30-year-old.
There has been no update on Lee since. Je'Von Evans defeated the one-time NXT North American Champion in the 12-minute opener of last week's NXT. The match came after Evans defeated Lee in another 12-minute match on the NXT 2300 special last month.
Lee did not appear live on this week's NXT episode, but he did participate in a backstage segment that featured fallout from last week's heat between Tyriek Igwe and Tyson Dupont. Lee listened while Igwe and Dupont argued over what happened, and then he interrupted and tried to keep the tension brewing within the tag team known as TNT.
It was teased that we could see a new tag team form or perhaps a third man added to make a faction. The segment ended after Wes knocked Tyson but praised Tyriek and suggested he could be Igwe's new tag team partner while declaring friends to be overrated.
WWE Main Event and Speed spoilers from Monday
WWE taped matches for upcoming episodes of Speed on Monday in Boston. Matches have been taped on a different schedule in recent weeks due to the Christmas holiday. One match for Speed was also taped. Below are spoilers:
- Wes Lee defeated Dion Lennox (Main Event)
- Non-Title Match: Pete Dunne defeated Speed Champion Dragon Lee (Main Event)
- Josh Briggs vs. Dante Chen (Main Event)
- Natalya defeated B-Fab (Speed)
This week's WWE Main Event episode will feature one of the three aforementioned matches, plus The Unholy Union vs. Katana Chance and Kayden Carter, which was taped last week. The remaining two bouts are set to air Christmas Week. Natalya vs. B-Fab is also expected to air next week, if not the end of the month.
