34-year-old WWE star's career in jeopardy - Reports
One does not really know the range of power WWE CCO Paul "Triple H" Levesque has in the Stamford-based promotion. But it is fairly obvious by now that he plays a key role in pushing certain wrestlers while some aren't.
On that note, Giovanni Vinci moved to SmackDown after splitting with Imperium. Unfortunately for Giovanni, his career did not take off. His first match on the blue brand saw him take an embarrassing loss to Apollo Crews in mere seconds.
Fightful Select's Sean Ross Sapp has now reported that despite the belief among fans that there is internal heat for the former Imperium member, it is simply a matter of creative. It appears Triple H & Co. does not have anything worthwhile for Giovanni Vinci at this point:
"I haven’t heard of him being in the doghouse. But I haven’t heard of any major plans for him, either. They didn’t have significant plans for him anyways," Sean Ross Sapp said. [H/T: RSN]
Meanwhile on RAW, Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser also seem to have quietly disbanded. The Ring General runs solo as the World Heavyweight Champion of the flagship show, while Kaiser has not been seen on television of late. He was previously involved in a program with former WWE Champion Sheamus.
Vince Russo says the WWE's Paul "Triple H" Levesque Era has favoritism
Triple H running WWE shows has been largely getting a positive reception. However, as always, there are some negatives too. Former WWE writer Vince Russo believes it is favoritism in the case of The Game's regime.
Speaking on The Coach and Bro Show exclusively on Backstage Pass, Russo called it "sickening" to see how athletes who are — according to him — not as good as they are presented get so much television time than some others. He pointed to the Women's Tag Team Champions Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill hosting Bad Blood on October 5 instead of wrestling at the event:
"This is what is so sickening to me. [...] They're playing favorites because the people that are featured have no business whatsoever being featured. [...] and then you got the Bianca Belair's and Jade Cargill's. Oh, they don't have a match, bro, so they're going to host the show. It is so clear who the favorites are in that company; it's sickening."
WWE's Attitude Era writer has also been a harsh critic of some wrestlers like Sami Zayn, calling them unworthy of the main event slot they have been booked in.
