Backstage news on how Shayna Baszler is viewed in WWE - Reports
The WWE women's division is home to several legitimate combat sports athletes, but Shayna Baszler may be the most dangerous female competitor. A member of Ronda Rousey's MMA Horsewomen, Baszler joined WWE after more than a decade of MMA, including in the UFC, and with a few years of squared circle experience. Sources have now revealed what is said about Baszler backstage.
The Queen of Spades has worked as a heel superstar for the most part since debuting for WWE in August 2017, but she continues to maintain respect from fans and colleagues online. Baszler is currently a member of The Pure Fusion Collective with Sonya Deville and Zoey Stark. The 44-year-old is highlighted on the RAW roster for her no-nonsense persona and hard-hitting in-ring style.
Baszler is said to be universally respected and beloved within World Wrestling Entertainment. Fightful Select added that colleagues view the two-time NXT Women's Champion as being easy to work with. She is generally liked by just about everyone.
While Shayna likely has one or two detractors backstage, there aren't many. It was noted by Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp that he's never heard anyone say anything even remotely negative about the three-time WWE Women's Tag Team Champion.
Baszler moved on from MMA to pursue pro wrestling after being released from UFC with a 0-2 record in 2015. She debuted in the sport on October 31, 2003, with a win over Tina Johnson at a Reality Cage Fighting event, and had her last fight on February 25, 2017, at Deep Jewels 15, a loss to Reina Miura. Baszler's MMA record is currently at 15 wins and 11 losses.
Shayna Baszler fails to make WWE history
World Wrestling Entertainment is continuing its tournament to crown the inaugural Women's Intercontinental Championship. The tournament began this month, with Dakota Kai defeating Shayna Baszler and Katana Chance to advance to the semi-final.
Lyra Valkyria then defeated Ivy Nile and Zelina Vega to advance to the semis. Kai will soon face the winner of Zoey Stark vs. Raquel Rodriguez vs. Kayden Carter, while Valkyria will face the winner of Alba Fyre vs. Natalya vs. Kairi Sane.
WWE will then book the two semi-final winners against each other to crown the inaugural Women's I.C. Champion. The title match has not been confirmed as of this writing, but it's rumored to take place on January 6 during the RAW Netflix premiere.
