Backstage news on WWE using blood in the main event of Backlash - Reports
This past weekend at Backlash, WWE fans witnessed a star bleeding for the purpose of the story, a troupe that the company has largely veered away from since turning the product PG in 2008.
The blood spot occurred in the main event of Backlash, with Brock Lesnar seemingly blading his forehead moments before he was thrown at the exposed turnbuckle by his opponent Cody Rhodes.
According to a recent report from Dave Meltzer on F4Wonline, while the use of blood was permitted for the match, the way in which Lesnar may have caused himself to bleed is not allowed by company higher-ups.
"The blood with Brock Lesnar vs. Cody Rhodes was attempted and not an accident. Lesnar is allowed to do that although blading, which is far safer then smashing your forehead hard into steel to get blood, is not allowed in WWE." (H/T PWMania)
The first-time-ever matchup between Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar this past Saturday at Backlash, saw the American Nightmare come away with the much-needed win as he pinned The Beast.
Will Cody Rhodes capture WWE's newest major title?
First introduced by Triple H last month, a revamped version of the World Heavyweight Championship is set to be the new number-one prize on Monday Night RAW.
Last week, The Game revealed that an upcoming series of triple-threat matches on both RAW and SmackDown would take place, with two of the 12 picked stars set to face off for the belt on May 27 at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia.
Including Cody Rhodes, top superstars like Seth Rollins, Sheamus, Rey Mysterio, Finn Balor, as well as many others, will hope to come out on top in the next few weeks and become the new World Heavyweight Champion.
