Backstage reaction to major main event botch at WWE Money in the Bank - Reports
The WWE Universe is still abuzz after Saturday's Money in the Bank Premium Live Event. The brutal headliner match included a few memorable moments, and now sources are revealing some humorous reactions from backstage.
The Bloodline dominated the 25-minute Money in the Bank Six-Man Tag Team main event from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on Saturday night. Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Jacob Fatu defeated Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Kevin Owens. The finish began when Tonga Loa ran in to prevent KO's package piledriver to Tonga.
Loa botched the low blow attempt by punching Owens in his rear end. He immediately tried again and went through with the motion, but ended up punching his brother in the head. The Viper then ran in with the RKO, then Sikoa with the Samoan Spike, followed by Cody with a CrossRhodes. Fatu rushed in to stop a triple CrossRhodes, then the new Tribal Chief pinned The American Nightmare after another Samoan Spike.
The Silverback seemingly had no backstage heat for the double-botched low blow. A new report from Fightful Select adds that many light-hearted jokes were going around backstage after the spot, with Loa's colleagues throwing friendly jabs at him.
The Bloodline stood tall after the match as The Samoan Werewolf placed the Ula Fala onto his Tribal Chief. Michael Cole and Corey Graves pointed to how Solo just pinned the Undisputed WWE Champion, which adds to speculation regarding a possible Sikoa vs. Rhodes bout taking place at SummerSlam.
WWE SummerSlam updated lineup
The next WWE premium live event is being billed as The Biggest Event of the Summer. The 37th annual SummerSlam is scheduled for Saturday, August 3 at Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio.
Now that Money in the Bank is done, officials have confirmed two top title matches for SummerSlam. Damian Priest will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Gunther, while Bayley will defend the Women's Championship against Nia Jax.
The Ring General and The Irresistible Force earned their title shots by winning tournament finals at King and Queen of the Ring in late May. Gunther was crowned the 23rd King of the Ring, while Jax became the 2nd Queen of the Ring.
