Backstage reports on WWE's original plans for CM Punk as the fifth member of The Bloodline at Survivor Series
WWE star CM Punk has been grabbing headlines after his return this past Friday on SmackDown. He appeared after Paul Heyman revealed that he would be part of Roman Reigns' team at Survivor Series WarGames.
Punk has been out of action since his brutal Hell in a Cell match at Bad Blood against Drew McIntyre. The fans were shocked to see his music play on SmackDown, given that he had claimed he needed time to recover from the physical toll of his previous match.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful was recently asked about Punk being slotted as the fifth man. He responded that it was always the plan to have The Best in the World show up as the final member. He added that Punk has been on his best behavior since returning and is a huge help to younger talent backstage.
"As best I know, it was always the plan. I've not heard a single issue or negative interaction that CM Punk has had since he's been back. He's not just been a model citizen, he's been quite helpful from my understanding."
CM Punk and Roman Reigns will confront each other on SmackDown
Ever since CM Punk showed up as the fifth man, there have been several questions about his relationship with Roman Reigns.
This week on RAW, The Usos and Sami Zayn revealed during a backstage segment that Punk and Reigns would sit down on SmackDown to talk it out. The two stars have a complicated history and looked hesitant to trust each other when they were in the ring last Friday. Punk even mentioned that he was doing it for Paul Heyman.
It will be interesting to see what the two former World Champions have to say to each other ahead of the huge match at Survivor Series.
