Backstage update on Beth Phoenix's future following WWE exit - Reports
There has been an update regarding Beth Phoenix's departure from WWE. A report today has confirmed that The Glamazon is no longer under contract with the promotion.
Beth Phoenix has not competed in a match since teaming with her husband to defeat Finn Balor and Rhea Ripley at Elimination Chamber 2023. She is married to former WWE Superstar, Edge in real life, who goes by his real name, Adam Copeland in All Elite Wrestling. According to a new report from Fightful Select, the 43-year-old is in great shape and could return to the ring if she choses to.
The report noted that the possibility of her showing up in All Elite Wrestling has been discussed backstage but could not confirm if the two sides have had conversations. The veteran would not be able to use the "Phoenix" name elsewhere but is able to use "Beth" as it is her legal first name.
Fightful pointed out that she would be able to use the name Beth Copeland outside of the Stamford-based promotion. Adam Copeland suffered a broken tibia at Double or Nothing earlier this year and an AEW source told Fightful that if she were to join the company, it would likely be when her husband returns to action.
Promoters have also contacted Fightful to see if the Hall of Famer was available, so there is interest in her outside of WWE if she wants to continue her wrestling career.
Rhea Ripley wanted to face Beth Phoenix in a singles match in WWE
The Judgment Day's Rhea Ripley made it known that she wanted to battle Beth Phoenix in a singles match following the faction's loss at Elimination Chamber 2023.
Edge and Beth Phoenix got the better of The Judgment Day at the premium live event last year. In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling's Riju Dasgupta last year, The Eradicator stated that she had unfinished business and that she wanted to face the former champion in a singles match.
"I feel like my war with Beth Phoenix isn't finished with. We had that tag match with Finn [Balor] and Edge in it, but we haven't actually had a singles match yet and I'm still waiting for that," said Ripley. [1:14 – 1:26]
