Backstage update on Drew McIntyre following WWE Crown Jewel - Reports
WWE Bad Blood saw Drew McIntyre lose a brutal Hell in a Cell bout to CM Punk. The former AEW World Champion returned to RAW the next night but seemingly left on a hiatus, while McIntyre has not been seen since the PLE on October 5. Fans continue to speculate on the future of The Scottish Warrior, but now sources have provided an inside update on the matter.
The Chosen One has been away from World Wrestling Entertainment for almost one month. McIntyre needed 16 staples to close a wound on his head suffered during the devastating 31-minute Hell in a Cell loss to The Straight Edge Superstar. Punk was later accused of being reckless during the bout. The match marked their tiebreaker after Punk won a Strap match in late August.
McIntyre remains on hiatus from WWE, but he seems to be doing well, according to Fightful Select. It was noted that Punk's post-Bad Blood absence was planned, and while sources were unable to speak to whether McIntyre's absence was planned, it's for good reason.
The Scottish Psychopath would have needed to take some time away from the ring so that the large laceration on his head could heal. However, the 39-year-old has also been visiting family in Europe recently. The latest update noted how McIntyre recently revealed that he has experienced some personal losses.
Drew McIntyre under a new WWE contract
Drew McIntyre is currently in his 24th year as a professional wrestler. The Scottish Superstar will be operating under a new WWE contract as he reaches his third decade in the business.
McIntyre signed a new multi-year contract with World Wrestling Entertainment earlier this year. The deal is said to be for "big money" and will keep the former 3MB member locked in through 2027.
McIntyre initially signed with the Stamford-based company in late 2007 and was released on June 12, 2014. He returned on April 1, 2017, to work the NXT brand, and has been with the promotion ever since. The former TNA World Champion is WWE's 31st Triple Crown Champion.
