Backstage update on why WWE is planning a Triple Threat direction for the WrestleMania 41 main event (Exclusive)
WrestleMania 41 looks like it could be headlined by a Triple Threat Match between The Rock, Cody Rhodes, and Roman Reigns. A new backstage update has revealed why WWE is going in that particular direction.
On the Q&A with Bill Apter and WrestleVotes on Backstage Pass, host Joe Lowry discussed The Rock's return at Bad Blood 2024 and the tease of a Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania 41.
JoeyVotes of WrestleVotes seemingly confirmed that the Triple Threat direction is exactly what WWE is looking for at The Show of Shows next year in Las Vegas, Nevada, and explained that it makes the most sense for the company to put all three guys in the same ring at the same time:
"My thought is that it signifies that's where we're going for WrestleMania - 1, 2, 3 as in Triple Threat Match. I can tell you that's on the table but I'm not sure if it's finalized in any way. It's October, so I doubt it's been finalized but the idea is being floated and I think it makes sense for the company as a whole just to get those three guys in one ring at one time and push the story to the moon." Could WWE be planning another big main event for Night One of WrestleMania 41?
WrestleMania XL changed drastically because of CM Punk's injury, with Triple H confirming that the original plan for the main event of Night One was Punk vs. Seth Rollins.
Considering how many times it has been teased since then, especially on the October 7, 2024, episode of RAW, where Punk talked about going on a hiatus, it seems like WWE could possibly have another main event planned for the Night One of WrestleMania 41.
According to WRKD Wrestling, the plan is to have CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins for WrestleMania 41 and the multiple teases have been alluding to exactly that.
It is going to be interesting to see how things play out and how it eventually leads to that blockbuster match.
