Backstage updates on Jacob Fatu's WWE status - Reports
Jacob Fatu won WWE championship gold in his third match with the company, and just 43 days after his debut. There's been recent concern over the son of The Samoan Werewolf, and now sources are providing an update on Fatu's status.
The star tried to help Solo Sikoa defeat Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam on Saturday, but the returning Roman Reigns spoiled their plans. Fatu went down shortly before The Head of The Table returned after putting the Undisputed Champion through the announce desk with a big dive from the ring. Fatu was booked to sell the bump, but sources have indicated that he may have suffered a legitimate injury.
Backstage sources have noted that one-half of the WWE Tag Team Champions continued to wear the walking boot into the beginning of this week. A report from PWInsider revealed that there is still some uncertainty surrounding Fatu's status as no one is talking about what happened on Saturday.
The speculation has led to questions on whether the matter with Fatu is a work or an unfortunate mishap. While a legitimate injury to Fatu has not been confirmed as of now, the 32-year-old likely should not worry about his spot after sources revealed just how officials feel about the former MLW World Heavyweight Champion.
Fatu and Tama Tonga captured the WWE Tag Team Championship from DIY on last Friday's SmackDown. It remains to be seen what would happen with the titles if Fatu does go down with an injury, but The Bloodline using the Freebird Rule seems possible.
Updates regarding The Bloodline ahead of WWE SmackDown
Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, and Tonga Loa are expected to seek revenge on Roman Reigns during Friday's WWE SmackDown. This will be the post-SummerSlam episode.
World Wrestling Entertainment has confirmed Roman's return on this week's SmackDown as a follow-up to his surprise comeback at SummerSlam during Solo's loss to Cody Rhodes. Sikoa finally broke his silence earlier today.
The first-ever Sikoa vs. Reigns singles match is expected to happen in the near future, perhaps on August 31 at Bash In Berlin, or Bad Blood on October 5. The next PLE shows after that are Crown Jewel on November 2, and Survivor Series: WarGames on November 30, which would be fitting for a Bloodline civil war.
