Details on WWE being forced to change plans following Big E's injury on SmackDown - Reports
Former WWE Champion Big E faced a scary injury yesterday on Friday Night SmackDown. Now latest reports have revealed how WWE was forced to change their plans following his injury.
E teamed up with Kofi Kingston on SmackDown to take on the team of Sheamus and Ridge Holland. During the match, he had a scary landing on his head while receiving a belly-to-belly at ringside from Ridge Holland.
He was then carried to the back on a stretcher, leaving fans worried. Soon after, the SmackDown star took to Twitter to reveal the unfortunate news that he has broken his neck.
According to a report by Fightful Select, Big E was scheduled to compete in a dark match after SmackDown, where he would've teamed up with Drew McIntyre and Kofi Kingston to go up against the team of Sami Zayn, Happy Corbin, and Madcap Moss. However, WWE was forced to change this to a singles match between Drew McIntyre and Austin Theory.
Big E has shared a positive update on his neck injury
An injury to the neck is one of the most serious issues that has previously shortened the careers of several top WWE Superstars. Big E's revelation of him breaking his neck left fans fearful.
However, the former WWE Champion has now shared a positive update on his condition, revealing that there is no damage to his spinal cord and he won't be needing any surgery. He then went on to thank everyone for reaching out to him with well wishes.
"So I got some really good news, all things considered. The C1 and C6 are indeed fracture, no displacement though, which is a very good thing. I don't have any damage to my spinal cord, no ligament damage, and no surgery, which I'm very thankful for it. A pro tip, if you're going to break your neck, do it in Birmingham. They've been great. Everyone here has been great. But for real it's meant a ton to me that so many of you have been so kind and reached out and stopped in to see me. I feel like I sound like a broken record, but I am very grateful and I''ll be alright," said Big E.

The New Day member received a great push in WWE last year. He first won the Money in the Bank ladder match. He then went on to cash in his contract on Bobby Lashley to become the new WWE Champion on an episode of Monday Night RAW in September 2021.
From all of us at Sportskeeda, we would like to wish Big E a speedy recovery.
