Bobby Lashley's next move following WWE departure - Report
Bobby Lashley's WWE career commenced in 2005 after WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle spotted him during a practice session at the Olympic training center in the early aughts. He co-headlined WrestleMania 23 two years later as one of the company's three world champions, alongside Batista and John Cena.
The following year, though, Lashley left WWE. But in 2018, Bobby Lashley resurfaced in the biggest pro-wrestling promotion in the world, only to once again part ways in 2024 after spending a few months away from the ring owing to injury.
As per Fightful Select, the door is open from WWE's end for eventual appearances. But for the time being, it appears The All Mighty has other plans. Apparently, he has interest from top companies both domestically and internationally, and even within the combat sports world. Lashley reportedly also confirmed that he is far from done with regard to his in-ring career.
Lashley's contract has expired and he has already been moved to the company's alumni section. Whether he returns for a third run in the future bears watching.
Cody Rhodes had expressed a desire to work a match with Bobby Lashley in WWE
During an interview on The AJ Awesome Show, Cody Rhodes brought up Bobby Lashley's name as someone he would love to lock horns with.
The American Nightmare recounted a brief interaction he had with The All Mighty when they both were signed to TNA, but it fizzled out. Having never wrestled Lashley, the current Undisputed WWE Champion admitted it is a dream match for him, especially because the two have completely different styles in the ring:
"My style is a hybrid style of wrestling, a little new, a little old. Bobby is real unorthodox. Really, in terms of how quick he is, his combat sports experience, his size that doesn't mach his quickness, he's like a bear. Bobby would be a tough task. That would be a very good match. I'd be all about wrestling Bobby Lashley," Cody Rhodes said.
Despite both men being part of the SmackDown roster in 2024, Cody Rhodes and Bobby Lashley were never booked for a match. One of The All Mighty's biggest issues with the company was their decision to not book him as a world title contender on numerous occasions even when there was a lack of challengers.
Meanwhile, The American Nightmare's next title defense will be at Bash in Berlin on August 31 against Kevin Owens.
