Boxing legend's son announced for WWE SummerSlam tryout - Reports
WWE is set to host tryouts during the SummerSlam 2024 week. A legend’s son has been announced for the event.
Evander Holyfield is a top name in the boxing world. He competed between 1984 and 2011 and won a bronze medal for the United States at the '84 Olympics. The 61-year-old's son, Elijah Holyfield, is now looking to do something different with his athletic experience. Elijah will be a part of the tryouts set to take place during SummerSlam weekend, according to PWInsider.
The tryouts will take place on Friday, August 2, and fans will watch the action live for the first time ever. The 26-year-old will try his best to impress WWE officials and viewers to potentially get signed by the company.
Elijah took to X/Twitter earlier this week to showcase his athletic prowess to his fans and the WWE Universe.
"Monday Morning Looking for Work! ????," Elijah Holyfield wrote.
Elijah Holyfield has some experience in the football field, and fans have already seen many football players become top stars in the pro wrestling ring. It’d be great to see Elijah follow in the footsteps of veterans like Roman Reigns and Goldberg.
Evander Holyfield has appeared for WWE in the past
Elijah will not be the first member of his family to appear in the global juggernaut. His father, Evander Holyfield, competed in the company over a decade ago in a gimmick match.
The boxing legend was confirmed to participate in a boxing match at WWE’s Saturday Night's Main Event XXXV against Matt Hardy. He replaced Montel Vontavious Porter (MVP), who had to pull out after being injured.
Holyfield did enough damage to Matt Hardy and refused to land another punch after he saw the veteran struggling. MVP confronted Evander and earned a right hand in return.
That may have given Elijah some inspiration, and he could look to make it big in the Stamford-based wrestling promotion. The 26-year-old could turn out to be the next big thing in the company if things go well for him.
