Brock Lesnar's WWE return was discussed for a major event - Report
It's been over a year since Brock Lesnar last appeared for WWE in any shape or form. According to a new report, The Beast Incarnate's return was discussed within the company for Royal Rumble.
Earlier this year, Brock Lesnar's much-anticipated return was scrapped before Royal Rumble 2024, as The Beast Incarnate was surrounded by controversy. The lawsuit against Vince McMahon eventually caused WWE to change plans and the former UFC Heavyweight Champion hasn't appeared for the company.
According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter (WON), WWE cannot use Brock Lesnar until his status changes with the higher-ups and the legal team. However, there was a conversation regarding a surprise return at Royal Rumble, but it depends on how the case progresses and how circumstances change.
The insider also stated The Beast Incarnate's name is yet to be cleared before he can return to WWE television. It'll be interesting to see when and if Brock Lesnar can return to the Stamford-based promotion.
Brock Lesnar's last match was at WWE SummerSlam 2023
Last year, Brock Lesnar was in a heated rivalry with Cody Rhodes after WrestleMania 39 when The Beast Incarnate turned on The American Nightmare. This was the beginning of Rhodes' redemption arc on Monday Night RAW after losing to Roman Reigns.
The two first collided in Puerto Rico where The American Nightmare slayed The Beast Incarnate. However, Brock Lesnar returned with a vengeance and cost Cody Rhodes an opportunity at the newly introduced World Heavyweight Championship on Monday Night RAW.
Later, the two went head-to-head in Saudi Arabia for a second match. Unfortunately for Cody Rhodes, Brock Lesnar targeted the star's hand before the event and eventually capitalized on it and scored a victory over The American Nightmare at Night of Champions 2023.
In the end, Brock Lesnar put Cody Rhodes over in their trilogy, which concluded at SummerSlam in Michigan. At the time, no one was aware that this would be The Beast Incarnate's last appearance for the foreseeable future.
