Controversial WWE name reportedly working with Netflix ahead of RAW premiere

WWE and Netflix are preparing to officially begin under their unprecedented deal. The 10-year contract is reportedly worth more than $5 billion, and will allow the company to find even more growth. Despite the announcement of a new WWE-Netflix project, there is controversy brewing within the WWE Universe after one major name was revealed to be involved with work done by the streaming giant.

World Wrestling Entertainment's flagship show will premiere on Netflix in seventeen days. The blockbuster deal was announced eight months before the streaming giant premiered its viral docuseries on the WWE co-founder and former Chairman. Netflix worked with Vince McMahon, but not the company, on the series. Word now is that Netflix is working with another controversial star: Hulk Hogan.

The Hulkster has been back on good terms with the Stamford-based promotion for several years now. The 71-year-old last appeared live RAW XXX in January 2023, but returned via video in January this year for the 40th anniversary of Hulkamania.

Netflix released a new trailer for its 2025 sports-related productions today. The promo touts a new WWE behind-the-scenes series, followed by shots of Cody Rhodes and Rhea Ripley. No other details were provided, but a new behind-the-scenes series on Celebrity Wing Hall of Famer Mike Tyson is also being filmed.

The Immortal Hulk Hogan is now set to be featured in a new Netflix documentary. PWInsider reports that work is currently underway on a new Hogan production. However, it remains to be seen how far along the project is, when it will premiere, or what the title is.

Netflix previously had a Hogan biopic in the works. The movie was to star actor Chris Hemsworth as the 17-time champion, but Hogan recently confirmed that the project was nixed due to an issue with the main contract. Scott Silver spent around three years working on the script with the two-time Hall of Famer.

WWE RAW Netflix premiere updated lineup

World Wrestling Entertainment's first RAW of 2025 will air live from the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles on January 6. This will serve as the RAW Netflix premiere, which is expected to be a massive night for the brand. Below is the confirmed updated lineup as of now:

  • Women's World Championship: Liv Morgan (c) vs. Rhea Ripley
  • CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins
  • Tribal Combat for the Ula Fala: Solo Sikoa vs. Roman Reigns (winner will also be recognized as The Tribal Chief of The Anoa'i Family)

Of course, more matches will be added and finalized as the show draws closer. Officials have promised special guests and other top Superstars for the first-ever RAW on Netflix. Names confirmed to appear include John Cena, Logan Paul, Gunther, and Cody Rhodes, among others.
