A popular WWE Superstar was reportedly spotted at a recent event of a different promotion. The name in question is Damage CTRL's Kairi Sane.
The 35-year-old's fellow stablemate, IYO SKY, returned to Japan to lock horns with the former World of Stardom Champion, Utami Hayashishita at Marigold Summer Destiny. The former WWE Women's Champion secured a hard-fought win in a back-and-forth contest, which went over 23 minutes.
According to a recent report from Fightful Select, Kairi Sane was also present backstage during the show on Saturday. The former NXT Women's Champion was reportedly at the event to support IYO SKY. The report further mentioned that it was still not clear if Sane would compete at a Marigold event in the future.
Fellow Damage CTRL member opens up about Kairi Sane's WWE return
Kairi Sane signed a contract with the global juggernaut in 2016. However, she left the wrestling promotion in 2020. The former IWGP Women's Champion returned to WWE at Crown Jewel 2023 to help fellow countrywoman, IYO SKY defend the Women's Championship against Bianca Belair. She then proceeded to become a member of Damage CTRL and was later joined by former teammate, Asuka.
Speaking on her Twitch stream, Kairi's stablemate Dakota Kai claimed that she was very happy after she came to know about Sane's return, which was the day before the latter made her appearance at the Saudi premium live event. King Kota also mentioned meeting SKY and Kairi Sane nearly ten years ago in Japan.
"Not that long. Not that long at all. Almost as though we found out the day before. There's a lot of stuff that we don't find out until the day of. I was so happy. I met IYO and Kairi almost 10 years ago, my first tour of Japan in 2013/2014. It was right when my tour was ending. We hung out and went to dinner. Kairi is a sweetheart. She's also deadly. You do not want to cross her," she said. [H/T: Fightful]
WWE has teased a potential breaking up of Damage CTRL amid growing tension between the members of the heel faction. It remains to be seen if the three will stick together till Asuka's return from injury.
