Damian Priest set to defend his title in surprise championship match before major event; opponent has been decided - Reports

Damian Priest is set to have an enormous match on the day of SmackDown that no one saw coming. The World Heavyweight title will also be on the line.

At WWE Backlash, Priest faced Jey Uso and was able to defeat him to retain his title. He has repeatedly shown himself capable, and it appears that the situation is continuing. While he does not have a determined title contender at this time, he did offer the injured Drew McIntyre a chance for the title this week on RAW. When McIntyre returns, the two may end up in a feud against each other.

As for what's next for Damian Priest, he's not competing at King and Queen of the Ring at this time, but he was announced for a surprise championship match on SmackDown day. He won't be defending his title on the show itself but will be on the dark show after SmackDown.

He is scheduled to defend his title against Kofi Kingston, according to a report from Fightful Select.

This title shot comes after a loss for Kingston. Despite his best attempts, he was unable to beat Gunther earlier this week in a King of the Ring match. Fans will have to wait to see what happens in the title match when he faces Damian Priest.
