Important update regarding 5-time WWE champion's contract status - Reports

Many WWE Superstars saw their contracts expire earlier this year under Triple H's creative direction. Meanwhile, there is an important report regarding a former Hurt Business member’s status with the company.

Cedric Alexander remained off television for nearly ten months before WWE found a new creative direction for the former Cruiserweight Champion (1), RAW Tag Team Champion (1), and 24/7 Champion (3). He moved to the NXT brand in December 2023 and found an ally in Ashante 'Thee' Adonis.

The two men started working together for the first time in the company. He was removed from the picture again, before he returned on the September 3, 2024 episode of NXT to the aid of Je’Von Evans. He picked up his first singles win after over two years in July this year.

Cedric Alexander’s most notable work in WWE came during his time with The Hurt Business. A fellow member of the faction, Shelton Benjamin, was released from his contract last year, while other members Bobby Lashley and MVP saw their contracts expire last month.

A new report by Fightful Select states that Alexander renewed his contract with WWE earlier this year. While the exact details of the contract are undisclosed, it is described to be “multi-year” in length. Something similar was teased by the superstar himself with a post on Instagram.

Cedric remains the only former member of Hurt Business who is still working with the company. Meanwhile, the other three members of the faction could plan something big on the independent circuit soon.

The Hurt Business could come to life outside WWE

MVP did well in managing the group of Bobby Lashley, Cedric Alexander, and Shelton Benjamin during the pandemic era. However, after the group disbanded, none of the members reached the same heights as they did during their time in Hurt Business.

During a recent appearance at K&S WrestleFest Virtual Signing, MVP teased a potential reunion of the faction outside the company. He noted that the three members of the faction were in serious talks amongst themselves.

"The Hurt Business is dead and it was killed off by the powers that be. Myself, Bobby Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin are talking amongst ourselves about what we want to do going forward. Stay tuned," said MVP.

During his appearance, MVP also noted that Cedric Alexander may have re-signed with the company. That could keep him out of their proposed faction for some time.

Meanwhile, fans will hope to see Cedric Alexander get a decent push on the NXT brand. It would help the veteran get to the top once again.
