Interesting new backstage details revealed about Kevin Owens' unexpected heel turn on Cody Rhodes (Exclusive)

Kevin Owens' heel turn when he attacked Cody Rhodes was quite unconventional in terms of how it played out. Everyone was taken by surprise because of the fact that it happened with no cameras rolling, completely depending on fan footage.

On the Q&A with WrestleVotes and Bill Apter on Backstage Pass, Joe Lowry discussed the Kevin Owens heel turn and the "TMZ-style" footage that revealed it to the world. Discussing how unique it was, WrestleVotes provided an interesting detail about it all.

He said that he, just like everybody else, found out about it in real time.

"This one, it was...nobody quite knew what was happening. I learned about it just like everybody else did."

He added that nobody in production had any clue about it and that only Cody Rhodes, Kevin Owens, and a few others in the creative team were aware, making it a rather secretive affair.

"Nobody in production had any clue, because there were no cameras, no lighting, nothing of that nature, so it was quite different, going down this road. I wouldn't be surprised if the fan that caught this was a plant just to make sure that they got what they wanted. None of this was spoken to me or that I heard about even in the slightest. I'm not even sure how many people knew this was going to happen apart from Cody, Kevin Owens, and maybe a few creative people who designed the idea. But when you have a situation where not many people outside know about it, you can keep it quiet and it came off great."

How did Cody Rhodes respond to the Kevin Owens heel turn on RAW?

It seems like Cody Rhodes was on RAW to scout his next opponent Gunther and not to address the Kevin Owens situation.

When Cathy Kelley asked him about it, he postponed his explanation for SmackDown on Friday and stated that he wouldn't be talking about anything that happened at Bad Blood, including the returns of Jimmy Uso and The Rock.

Moreover, when Sami Zayn approached him to talk about it, Cody Rhodes was dismissive and didn't feel the need to address it at that time.

As RAW was going off the air, Cody appeared to have a face-to-face with World Heavyweight Champion Gunther, who he will be facing at Crown Jewel 2024 in a few weeks.
