John Cena "very likely" to face 4-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion in his last WrestleMania next year [Reports]
The year 2025 will be emotional for the WWE Universe as John Cena will bring the curtain down on his in-ring career. A new report has shed some light on plans for his potential WrestleMania 41 opponent. The 47-year-old legend is expected to return during the premiere episode of Monday Night RAW on Netflix on January 6, 2025, to embark on his retirement tour.
Many fans think The Cenation Leader will declare his entry into the Men's Royal Rumble Match and face Gunther for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 41. However, recent reports claim that he will face his former rival Randy Orton at The Show of Shows next year.
John Cena is currently tied with Ric Flair for the most WWE World Title wins in history. For years, fans have been clamoring to see him win his 17th title and break The Nature Boy's record. However, that may not be the case, especially after there have been some rumblings about Goldberg potentially challenging Gunther at 'Mania 41.
Xero News recently noted that the four-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton could face John Cena at WrestleMania 41. Despite being each other's biggest rivals, the two stalwarts have never locked horns at The Grandest Stage of Them All.
Randy Orton on if he would be open to facing John Cena again
In an interview with Spanish Sports Daily MARCA, Randy Orton said it would be a dream for him if he and John Cena were to face each other again.
"It would be a dream for me. I would love to fight Cena. I'd love it to be at Wrestlemania. God, even if it was at some live event somewhere, some big stadium or arena, with a passionate crowd, Cena and I enjoying it, it would be a nostalgic moment for me, for the fans. I know you would enjoy it too. But I am and think like Cena in the sense of letting the creative process flow and be as organic as possible," Orton said.
The Viper is currently out of action, thanks to Kevin Owens for hitting him with a Piledriver, a move that has been banned for years. The Prizefighter will challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Title at Saturday Night's Main Event.
Will Randy Orton make his presence felt? Only time will tell.
