Legendary 8-time WWE champion backstage at NXT; plans revealed - Reports
WWE NXT is gearing up for another big night of action at the Performance Center in less than one hour. The company's official third brand will present a double taping tonight, and sources have just revealed major spoilers from backstage, including one of WWE's biggest names being in attendance.
CM Punk is currently in Orlando for tonight's loaded NXT show. Fightful Select adds that the RAW Superstar is not planned for tonight's live episode, but some sort of appearance for next week's taped show has not been ruled out. The Voice of the Voiceless has been at the Performance Center throughout the day and was seen "openly hanging out" during rehearsals. Punk has spent a lot of time with the rising stars of NXT since returning to WWE.
Tonight's NXT is scheduled to open up with Oba Femi vs. Axiom. The NXT Tag Team Champion is pulling double duty tonight, which is why he's in the first match. The plan for the main event is Eddy Thorpe vs. NXT Champion Trick Williams, with the title on the line.
Ethan Page has not been announced for tonight, but he is currently booked for a promo segment. Je'Von Evans is scheduled to be involved in some fashion. All matches for tonight's show were previously announced.
In addition to the opener and closer, the following matches have been confirmed for tonight's live NXT episode: NXT Tag Team Champions Axiom and Nathan Frazer vs. Wolfgang and Joe Coffey of Gallus, Wren Sinclair vs. Jaida Parker, plus Sol Ruca and Zaria vs. Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson.
The last NXT TV event of the year will take place at the Performance Center on December 19. The second episode, taking place tonight, will air on December 24. NXT will then begin 2025 with the New Year's Evil special on January 7.
