Major spoiler on WWE's plans for Randy Orton - Reports

Randy Orton returned to WWE last year at Survivor Series, and the promotion reportedly has big plans for him moving forward. The Viper appeared during the Undisputed WWE Championship match between Cody Rhodes and Solo Sikoa at WWE SummerSlam.

The Legend Killer and Kevin Owens showed up during the match to fight off The Bloodline. Roman Reigns then made his return and attacked Solo Sikoa, allowing Cody Rhodes to pick up the victory.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Orton will be challenging Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at Bash in Berlin on August 31. Gunther won the title at SummerSlam by defeating The Judgment Day's Damian Priest.

Randy Orton and Gunther squared off in the finals of the King of the Ring tournament in May. The leader of Imperium picked up the victory, but Orton's shoulders were not down during the pinfall. As a result of winning the tournament, Gunther earned a title shot at SummerSlam and became champion this past Saturday night.

Triple H teases rematch between Gunther and Randy Orton after finish at WWE King and Queen of the Ring

WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H commented on the controversial finish at King and Queen of the Ring earlier this year and teased a rematch down the line.

In a backstage interview with Byron Saxton following the Premium Live Event in May, The King of Kings noted that Randy Orton's shoulder was not on the canvas during the cover. He claimed that Orton deserved a rematch and suggested that Gunther would likely want one as well.

"Especially after what I saw tonight, I certainly want to see that again. I think Randy Orton deserves to have another shot at that, and I think if I know anything about Gunther, he will want to have another shot at that," he added. [From 01:05 - 01:20]
