Major SummerSlam title match to be revealed on WWE SmackDown - Reports
A major title match at WWE SummerSlam is rumored to be revealed during tonight's episode of SmackDown. Tonight's show will feature the fallout from WWE Money in the Bank 2024 this past Saturday night.
Cody Rhodes, Kevin Owens, and Randy Orton squared off against The Bloodline in a 6-man tag team match at the premium live event over the weekend. The Bloodline emerged victorious and Solo Sikoa got the pinfall over The American Nightmare in the match. According to WrestleVotes, the main event of SummerSlam between Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and Solo Sikoa will be made official tonight on SmackDown.
"Tonight from Worcester: The SummerSlam main event becomes official tonight with Rhodes and Solo, all while Randy Orton finds himself intertwined in the story. #Smackdown."
Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Jacob Fatu have all recently acknowledged Solo Sikoa as their Tribal Chief on WWE SmackDown. However, Paul Heyman refused to do so and the faction responded by Powerbombing The Wiseman through the announce table.
WWE legend on why Cody Rhodes didn't turn heel on SmackDown
Mark Henry recently discussed Cody Rhodes' rivalry with AJ Styles and explained why the champion didn't turn heel after AJ Styles faked his retirement.
Rhodes defeated Styles at WWE Backlash earlier this year but The Phenomenal One wanted another title match. He faked his retirement and unleashed a heinous attack on the 39-year-old to get another match. However, he failed to win the title once again in an I Quit match at Clash at the Castle last month in Scotland.
Speaking with Sportskeeda Wrestling's Bill Apter in an exclusive interview, Mark Henry commented on the storyline and was asked if Rhodes should have attacked Styles during the segment. Henry noted that it wouldn't have been a good long-term decision for the promotion if Rhodes turned heel during his rivalry with Styles.
"It would have been something for a little while, but the wrestling business is not founded on a little while. Every time that you went with the cheap pop, it backfired. You gotta stay the course, tell the stories the way the fans like to tell stories." [11:50 – 12:08]
